Mayor Bloomberg demands arrest of gunman! Actually, there hasn’t been any comment yet from the usual suspects on the anti-gun, pro-criminal left. I don’t expect there to be either, other than to complain that the armed citizen should have stepped back and called the police instead.
Of course, if this brave citizen had done what the leftists recommend, this woman would be dead and the attacker would be on the run and a danger to others. As you might expect, there is a little bit more to the story and here are the juicy details.

SAN ANTONIO – A woman is in critical condition after she was stabbed outside her child’s school Tuesday morning.
The attack happened around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday outside the Bonham Academy on St. Mary’s Street. Teresa Barron, 38, had just dropped off her child at the school when the child’s father showed up, and the two got into an argument. The child’s father, 38-year-old Roberto Barron allegedly then stabbed the woman several times in the upper body and neck area.
Police say a bystander who happened to be a concealed handgun license holder pulled his weapon and ordered Barron to drop the knife. Barron surrendered and was taken into custody by the bystander and a school district officer.
First, this is Texas and as we know, your average Texan is born with a pistol and ammo belt. (Makes it a tough birth for the mother of course) Second, and more surprising, the criminal only had a knife. The citizen isn’t named in the story, but I have a feeling that even if he didn’t have a gun on him, he would have gone after Barron and tried to drag him away from his victim. He may have been injured, possibly killed by the knife wielding assailant and may not have been able to save the victim. Instead, the scene probably went this way.

Citizen looks over at the source of the scream, probably moving towards it as well. Citizen sees criminal trying to cut the victim’s head off, draws his concealed pistol he has received a license for and says: “Hey! Drop the knife and get away from that lady! I have a gun!”
Now the criminal, alleged to be Roberto Barron, took a look at the citizen and realizes that he has brought a knife to a gun fight. Rather then being sent to the same hospital his victim was sent to, (For a speedy recovery that we all wish for), or possibly a one way trip to the morgue, he dropped the knife and gave up.
Anger Central would like to give a big tip of the hat to the unnamed citizen, a wish for a speedy and pain free recovery for the victim, and a fair trial followed by a nice hanging for the alleged assailant.

AW, there are real assholes like me, who seeing that situation, would have responded, BANG, BANG, BANG, “Stop, or I’ll shoot!” Since my concealed carry weapon of choice is a .40 cal pistol, shooting 180 gr jacketed hollow point ammo, it is very unlikely the goblin in question would have been taken to a hospital. The taxpayers would have been spared the expense of a court appointed attorney, the expense of a trial, the expense of medical care to get the goblin healthy enough for a trial, and the expense of keeping the goblin confined for years and years in prison. That scenario sounds like a win-win situation all around. And, since the scenario happened in Texas, the most likely reaction of law enforcement would have been, “nice grouping, sir.”
The problem I think is age. Now if her were a 92 tear old WWII vet, then there would have been no hesitation.
