Chicago hits 500 murders

Well, that bastion of good government and a disarmed public, Chicago, has had 500 people murdered this year. A fair number of these murders were with guns that aren’t legal in that city. Now, you may ask how this can be?

How can so many people have been murdered with guns? Isn’t Chicago a gun free city? Well, for all intents and purposes, yes it is. That means that only the criminals have guns. The regular people don’t. Since the criminals know that the law abiding people are unarmed, killing them is very low risk. (Unless they happen to commit this crime in front of a cop. Then he might actually get arrested)

Now the Chicago Police are saying that it isn’t actually 500 people, only 499 have been slaughtered to date. Here are some of the details from the Chicago Tribune:

Hours after Chicago police listed the shooting death of a West Side man as the city’s 500th homicide of the year, the department backtracked and said the city has yet to reach the grim milestone.

Oh I wouldn’t worry, there are still a few days before the start of the new year. I’m sure one of the two legged vermin infesting Chicago will happily blow someone away.

Superintendent Garry McCarthy had told the Tribune Thursday afternoon that the homicide count stood at 499. Hours later, Nathaniel T. Jackson, 40, was gunned down outside a store in the Austin neighborhood and the department confirmed Friday morning that his death was the 500th homicide. Mayor Rahm Emanuel released a statement noting that “Chicago has reached an unfortunate and tragic milestone.”

Our condolences to the family of Mr. McCarthy. As to Rahm Emanuel, stuff it. You and the other crooked pols that have all but destroyed both Chicago and Illinois should be horsewhipped. But that’s another matter. Getting back to the story, Chicago promptly “corrected” the death toll caused by Progressive policies.

But then the department issued its own statement calling reports of the tally inaccurate, saying the number remained at 499. Asked for clarification, a spokeswoman for the superintendent said one of the homicide cases from earlier this week has been reclassified as a death investigation.

The case in question is last Saturday’s death of 57-year-old Edward Phelps. He died following a domestic-related altercation in the 0-99 block of North Long Avenue in Austin, police said.

So he was beaten to death with a skillet or was he stabbed to death with a steak knife?

Although he appeared to have suffered a blunt force injury, his autopsy on Sunday at the Cook County medical examiner’s office was ruled inconclusive, pending toxicological studies.

So it was a skillet. Frankly this is a bit confusing to me. The indications of a blunt force trauma should be obvious, especially after being x-rayed. He either got his head caved in or he didn’t.

Still, police classified Phelps’ death as a homicide in the days following the autopsy, according to internal reports. It wasn’t until this afternoon that McCarthy’s spokeswoman, Melissa Stratton, citing the autopsy results, said the department reclassified the case as a death investigation.

Yeah, that reclassification came out as soon as they realized that having 500 of your citizens killed in one year wasn’t going to make Chicago look like the safe, worry free gun free zone the progressives have claimed.

This is the problem with all the gun banners. While they claim that letting people exercise their rights under the 2^nd Amendment will cause wild gun battles, it has never happened. In fact it tends to be just the opposite. Cities and states with high gun ownership and CCW permits tend to have lower crime rates. Criminals don’t like getting shot.

If Diane Feinstein and Schmucky Chucky Schumer get their way, all of America will be just like Chicago. A place with a “Progressively” increasing body count. They deny it of course, but Progressive Liberals are nothing if very accomplished at self delusion. Feinstein’s bill is almost certain to fail in the Senate, if it even gets through a committee hearing. However, until we finally drive a stake through the heart of these totalitarian gun banners and their murderous beliefs, people living in these cities with Progressive Liberal governments will suffer the at the hands of criminals. After all, in the Progressive Liberal worldview, criminals are just victims of a racist and unfair society. They will be happy to explain that to you in their secured neighborhoods protected by armed guards. If you want to see their heads explode, point out their hypocrisy and challenges them to live like the people they purport to “Want to help.”

So, do we have any bets on when the 500^th murder victim will be found in Chicago? I’m guessing that Emanual will order the crime reports to be “misplaced” until January.
