American Civil War II

Good day all. Now the title of this post seems to refer to a second American civil war. I will touch on that tangentially. I’m actually going to talk about the novels about the potential second American Civil war, more commonly known as ACW2.

Now as you may have gather, I love to read. I’ll read just about anything, (Well, almost anything. I don’t do Harlequin Romances, thank you), and with the recent reelection of Obama, have started looking into the fictional stories of what might cause ACW2 and how it might end.

There are a number of stories out there. One of the first I ever read was called “Unintended Consequences” by John Ross. It was written back in 1995 when Bill Clinton was president and the government had passed a very strict, (and utterly useless), gun control law that banned certain types of rifles and magazines. The novel is long out of print, but I am hoping Mr. Ross will re-release it for the Kindle. The basic story starts in 1906, moves to 1939 and the Miller case, ((The United States vs Miller)), Parts of World War 2 and up to the then present day. Briefly, an out of control government agency, in this case the BATF, tries to set up the main characters in the novel. The plan fails and the people involved, chief among them a man named Bowman decide that it’s time to do something about Washington and the gun banners. They initiate a plan where both elected officials and bureaucrats are targeted for death. Eventually, the President caves in and the various gun control acts are repealed.

This was one of the first novels I read in the genre and was quite frightening on what could be done. More recently, we have novels where the power structure in Washington decided to pretty much revoke the constitution and begins by seizing guns from the people. Most of these books are a bit over the top, especially in how they set up the originating scenario. Many of them have a strong libertarian and self reliant message to them, and generally revolve around the citizens of the Untied States rising up and throwing the bums out with force.

Another sub-genre is the actual secession of one or more states, usually starting with Texas. One of the first ones I read in this group was by the Author Tom Kratman titled A State of Disobedience and was his first novel. Now I don’t have my copy in front of me so I’m doing this by memory. Col. Kratman, (Ret.) has been known to stop by so if I get anything wrong he will let me know by butt stroking me, running me through with a bayonet, castrating me then crucifying me. And that’s if he isn’t mad at me.

The story revolves around the governor of Texas and how the new president began the creation of a totalitarian police state. The Governors brother, a priest in a local mission, ends up getting killed along with dozens of children. This leads the governor to rebel against the federal government. If you want to know more about the story and how it turns out, buy the book.

Other authors, such as Matthew Bracken also started writing more and more about various scenarios. In Matthew Bracken’s case, I bought the first two books in his trilogy, but was not able to get into the story. I never bought the third one. However, Mr. Bracken has been writing about the possible breakdown of American society and what might happen.

All these books have one central theme. The Federal Government finally pushes people/states to far and they react in the only way left to them. Armed rebellion. In all the books I’ve read, the “rebels” are victorious to some degree and significant changes result.

The reality is somewhat different. In the past, there were people who were yelling about civil war, former president GW Bush declaring martial law, round ups of dissidents, etc. While Bush was a moron, he was basically loyal to the idea of a constitutional government. He just wasn’t very good at it.

Now, we have Barack Obama, a man who has stated he doesn’t like the constitution and over the last few years has gone against the Constitution. (The use of military force to attack Libya and overthrow the government for instance) Now that he has won reelection, he has decided he can do absolutely anything he wants. Currently, he is preparing to issue Executive Orders to suppress the Second Amendment rights of the American people. He is also refusing to accept that we have a spending problem and is demanding an unlimited ceiling on borrowing money, and massive new spending programs.

What Obama is doing matches a few of the scenarios in some of these novels. If you have been following the news regarding the plans to ban guns, you can see just how furious the people are over this. One thing we have today that we really didn’t have the last time they pulled this is the Internet. People are now actively speaking about a second civil war. Of course, the Government class is not listening. In a recent meeting with Joe Biden, the NRA and other groups could see the utter contempt Biden has for the Second Amendment. He basically said they will do whatever they want to do and they don’t care what the Constitution says.

In New York, Andrew Cuomo has announced that he is going to ram through new laws banning semiautomatic firearms and standard capacity magazines. California has announced they are going to go all in and ban pretty much everything. All of these potential bans have one thing in common. People will be forced to turn in their property to the government, and there will be no compensation for them. Besides the second amendment, this also violates the 4^th and 5^th amendments.

In Chicago, the Chief of Police announced that “We’ll shoot licensed civilians with guns.”

“You put more guns on the street expect more shootings,” McCarthy said. “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained… putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”

McCarthy would not say what specific training officers will undertake if any. However, he did admit that in the past his department has made mistakes in shooting unarmed civilians. He believes the concealed carry law will increase those types of unfortunate incidents.

This basically states that the police will be declaring open season on law abiding citizens who may have been forced to use their firearms to defend themselves and others. He is right, that this would be a recipe for disaster. What this Reinhard Heydrich wannabe isn’t considering is what would happen if police start firing on law abiding, armed, citizens. They will first try to get them to stop, but considering the history of the Chicago PD, they most likely won’t, then they will start returning fire. This is the real recipe for disaster. The dirty little secret is that most police officers only fire a few hundred rounds a year. It isn’t uncommon for gun owner to fire that in a week. (Depends on how often they go to the range) In other words, the citizen is generally a much better shot then the police officer.

America is fractured these days in a way it hasn’t seen since the 1850’s. It won’t take much to trigger the ACW2 that we all want to avoid. Obama acting like a tyrant, and the militarization of police and their tendencies of late to consider the citizens to be the enemy, one single incident and BOOM!

Right now, we have tens of thousands of people saying that if Obama orders them to turn in or register their guns, they will refuse. The next step would be Obama ordering raids to take the guns away. That would start the shooting. This could be the first time we see federal agents refusing to carry out raids like this. They aren’t stupid and they don’t’ want to get shot.

Congress will not allow a gun ban through. Enough of them know what the people want, and it’s not gun control. If Obama were to do an executive order, it would be a violation of the laws and constitution and would require his impeachment. Of course, the House is run by spineless jellyfish and the Senate is run by criminals. Obama will never be impeached even if he was caught strangling babies on the White House lawn.

We are living in the most terrifying time in the last 170 years. The Progressive Liberal Democrats refuse to see what their policies and programs are doing. They are in full denial regarding what the people of this country want. All they care about is power, and this is why they are so hell bent on stripping away the second amendment rights. They are going to be shocked if this country explodes and the American People march on Washington and drag them out of their offices and string them up from lamp posts.

Frankly, I, for one, can do without a Second Civil War. I much prefer reading fictional accounts of it instead.
