Gun confiscation to begin in New York

Well, Andrew Cuomo is a tyrant of his word. A “deal” has been worked out that essentially repeals the Second Amendment in the state of New York. The so called deal is by far one of the worst seen in recent memory, and indicates just what the Democrats have in mind for America. Here’s a hint. It isn’t freedom or liberty.

Now this is just a tentative deal between Cuomo and the legislative leadership. It still has to be passed into law. Of course, since this is the People’s Republic of New York, where the people have no rights, only privileges granted by the government, so I expect it to be passed within the next 48 hours. Here are what details we have from NBC New York:

The tentative agreement would further restrict New York’s ban on assault weapons and limit the size of magazines to seven bullets, rather than the current 10. Other elements, pushed by Republicans, would refine a mental health law that allows for civil confinement of people determined to be a threat to others.

If this becomes law, it will outlaw almost all semi-automatic firearms, both pistol and rifle. Things like the old M1 Garand, which uses an 8 round clip, (Yes, in this case that is the correct term), would be outlawed. The M1 was designed in the 1930’s! The M1911, more commonly known as the “Colt .45” has a standard 7 round magazine, and can carry one more in the chamber. There are a number made that have 8-10 round magazines. The M1911 was designed over 100 YEARS ago and is one of the most popular designs on the market today.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the proposal had not been discussed among rank and file legislators. They say the tentative deal struck over the weekend will be debated behind closed doors Monday in the Senate and Assembly.

Two things here. First, there has been no discussions with the “Rank and File” legislators. This isn’t surprising since a number have been getting their ears ripped off by their constituents. The second, and far more important part is that this bill will be debated behind closed doors. Basically in secret. The people of New York will have no input on this at all. It will be shoved down their throats.

Of course, the real reason they don’t want the public to see their “Deliberations” is fear. They know that most of New York is opposed to this, (Excluding the Communist held areas like New York City), and will be enraged when it’s rammed through.

Abd as I was writing this, news has come out that Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley wants to top even the totalitarian grab by Cuomo. In a story in the Washington Post, O’Malley wants to put every single gun owner into a registry.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will seek to institute some of the nation’s strictest gun-licensing requirements, ban assault weapons and restrict visitor access to schools in one of the most expansive government responses sought to last month’s school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Perhaps most controversially, O’Malley (D) will ask the General Assembly to force prospective gun owners to provide fingerprints to state police, complete a hands-on weapon-familiarization and gun-safety course, and undergo a background check to be licensed.

O’Malley is also one of the most incompetent of the Democrat governors. Maryland, fiscally, is in the same boat as California, Illinois and New York. The only reason they haven’t fallen off the cliff yet is the money coming in from Washington DC. (A lot of agencies are located in Maryland along with the federal work force)

And to add to all this, last weekend, a home in New York that was listed on the Journal News’s interactive map of gun owners was burgled. The criminals made a beeline for the home owner’s gun safe. They weren’t able to break into it, (Also no one was home), and one of them has been caught. Police are still investigating and the home owner doesn’t want to comment on this while the investigation is ongoing. I suspect he has a lot he wants to say though. If this pans out, the Journal News has opened its self up to a massive lawsuit. Personally, I think they should also be criminally charged with aiding and abetting. (I’ll leave the exact nature of those charges to those more knowledgeable on the local laws)

Later this week, Obama will be coming out with his plans to take away the rights of gun owners throughout the country. Now, not all states are attempting to ban the Second Amendment. Some are going in the opposite direction. Wyoming lawmakers are proposing a bill that would nullify anything coming out of Washington. Here are some details from the Washington Examiner:

Wyoming lawmakers have proposed a new bill that, if passed, would nullify any federal restrictions on guns, threatening to jail federal agents attempting to confiscate guns, ammunition magazines or ammunition.

The bill – HB0104 – states that “any federal law which attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm or other limitation on firearms in this state shall be unenforceable in Wyoming.”

The gauntlet has been removed from the hand.

In addition, the bill states would charge federal officials attempting to enforce a federal gun law within the state with a felony – “subject to imprisonment for not more less than one (1) year and one (1) day or more than five (5) years, a fine of not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or both.”

And it has just been thrown on the ground. This is a direct slap at Obama, and if it is passed into law, and I expect it will be, any attempt by Obama’s gun grabbers will be met with local and state law enforcement.

Citing the Tenth and the Second Amendments, Wyoming State Senator Larry Hicks asserted that the legislation was Constitutional, adding that he fully expected it to pass in the Wyoming state legislature. Hicks said that his Wyoming constituents were upset about the looming threat of gun control coming from Washington, particularly since Vice President Biden signaled yesterday that President Obama was willing to issue an executive order to tackle the gun issue.

Hicks explained that the model of the bill was taken from a bill passed in the State of Montana in 2009 adding that it wasn’t much different from what he’d seen other states do.

That law basically said that Federal firearms laws are not enforceable on gun made in Montana and not sold out of state. Since the product is sold only inside Montana, the interstate Commerce Clause ((Article I, Section 8, Clause 3)) doesn’t come into effect. To my knowledge, this has yet to be challenged by the Federal Government in Court. I think they’re afraid to. If they lose, it will open the floodgates and really wreck a lot of what they are doing now under the CC.

Yesterday, I wrote a post on Second American Civil War novels. In the end I said I would prefer that a potential ACW2 remain a fictional idea. With what Cuomo, O’Malley, Obama and the others are trying to do, we may be taking a giant step from fiction into fact. People in New York and Maryland, get on the phone right now to your legislators and tell them to stop this nonsense now, before anyone gets hurt.

Yes, I did say that. There is no question in my mind that if these Nazi thugs ram these gun ban laws through, people will not comply. When that happens, the police raids will begin and without any doubt in my mind, there will be shooting. Both citizens and law enforcement people will be injured and killed. Once that happens, the next step will be people banding together both for defense and quite probably offense against the political class. (Primarily the Progressive Liberal Moonbats) As I mentioned in my post yesterday, author John Ross came up with a frightening scenario for his novel, Unintended Consequenses. In it he sets up what amounts to a guerrilla war against the US Government and what it would entail.

I never thought I would see the day when people would begin to actively consider this. Now that the Progressive Liberal parts of the government no longer fears the people, they think they can basically fulfill their wish list. The end of the American Republic and the institution of a totalitarian state ruled by the elites. If that is their plan, they are going to be in for one hell of a surprise.

There is a mass protest being developed for Saturday January 19^th 2013 called “Guns across America”. People are being asked to show up at their state capitals to let their legislatures, and the federal government know that the people are NOT going to give up their rights.
