The rebellion has begun?

Over the last few months, the Totalitarian Progressive Left has decided the time is right to begin the suppression of the Second Amendment. (No doubt followed by the rest of the Constitution) Needless to say, gun owners are not taking this assault on their civil rights laying down.

There have been a multitude of protests against Liberal state governments as well as the Obama administration, primarily to stop the these unconstitutional gun grab. States such as New York and now California have either passed, or are planning to pass laws that, for all intents and purposes, ban the private, constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. Well, now the protests have started to get a bit more forceful.

A few weeks ago, in Oak Harbor, Washington, a city councilman tried to take away the gun of a veteran who had come to a city council meeting with a concealed handgun. He had all the proper permits, (Which realistically, are also unconstitutional) Here is the response by the city councilman. It occurs about two minutes in.

One of the city councilman put forward a motion to to ban firearms from the council chamber. The motion was defeated and the councilman in question stormed out saying he would not stay in the presence of an armed citizen. Well, there has been a bit of a reaction out there.

In an article from the Washington Examiner, it seems a few citizens decided to show their displeasure at some of the council’s ordinances.

A group of 160 citizens, many if not most of whom were armed, confronted government officials Tuesday who had attempted to have a wounded Army veteran kicked out of a meeting due to the fact that he carried a gun. The veteran has a state license for concealed carry, which means that he was carrying the gun to the meeting within the boundaries of the law.

And, as we all know, the law means nothing to Progressive Liberals if it gets in their way.

But Tuesday evening the citizens of Oak Harbor, Wash. showed up to confront its city council and demand that the council rescind a local ordinance prohibiting guns from being carried on public property. The citizens also wished to show their support for Lucas Yonkman, the Army veteran who showed up at the previous meeting armed.

Yep, that would indicate to me that people are not happy with their elected officials and their ideas of Utopia. The Examiner linked to an article in MyNorthWest.com and it makes for some interesting reading.

It’s been three weeks since an Oak Harbor city councilmember started a national controversy by trying to kick out a wounded Army veteran who was legally carrying a weapon during a council meeting.

Councilmember Rick Almberg then walked out.

The council was met by 160 people Tuesday night, many who were packing heat.

And I think we can assume that many liberal undergarments were suddenly soiled.

There were handguns in holsters and rifles slung over shoulders and an unknown number of people concealing their weapons as the Oak Harbor City Council met. Many attended the meeting to show support for veteran Lucas Yonkman who Councilmember Almberg tried to have kicked out of City Hall last month, including Joe Hawkins who openly mocked him. “Mr. Almberg I just want you to know that I have a concealed ham sandwich right here I don’t want you to get up and walk away,” he chuckled.

Well, well, well! Somehow I doubt this was the reaction our Liberal Overlords anticipated during their race to their version of Utopia. Now the reason for this council meeting was the demand by the citizens to repeal an ordinance banning guns in parks and marinas.

Sandy Peterson spoke out against the ordinance. “If the city council members are intimidated by people exercising their Second Amendment rights to bear arms, perhaps they need to examine what it is about that that makes them uncomfortable,” she said.

William Frail had an M-1 rifle on his shoulder as he testified. “Sir, my mother was Jew,” he said. “My family went to the chambers. I will not go into the night quietly while these two ask me to board the train.”

For those who might not know this, it was perfectly legal to kill Jews in Nazi Germany and all the territories they controlled between 1939-1945, and they murdered millions. Mr. Frail’s statement is being echoed around the nation. People are saying “NO” to the Progressive Liberal Elites who think they, by dint of education and status, should rule over the people. We have seen what happens when we go down that road.

• 10’s of millions more killed in wars caused by these totalitarian regimes.

The man who started this confrontation, without any intention of doing so, came back and addressed the council for a second time.

Lucas Yonkman, the man at the center of this gun debate in Oak Harbor, also addressed the council.

“I come to you tonight with a heavy heart,” Yonkman said. “I see a beautiful country divided and conflicted. I see a constitution being eroded, and the rights so many have fought and died for totally lost. I see men and woman who are elected leaders pushing personal agendas.”

Yonkman believes the answer to mass shootings and community violence will be found in treating those with mental illness, instead of taking guns away.

So, what was the final result of the meeting?

The city council eventually voted to overturn the ban, which the interim city attorney had told the members was unconstitutional. The council did not call for the resignation of fellow member Almberg, which a few people had called for.

No, he wouldn’t resign. That would require having a sense of honor. I do expect that he will be retired at the end of his term due to ill health. The voters are getting sick of him.

As we see more and more Progressive Liberal governments move to suppress the constitutional rights of the people, especially the Second Amendment, reactions like what happened in Oak Harbor will be repeated throughout the country. What worries me is some moron mayor, governor or legislative leader will overreact and order police in to take away the guns from people protesting. (carrying, but otherwise not threatening) That will, without a doubt, cause a violent reaction with a repeat of what happened in Lexington and Concord Massachusetts 238 years ago. Progressive Liberals literally can not understand that this is a possibility. If “Shit hits the Fan,” they will find out, and they will not survive the lesson. Hopefully, they will figure it out before bad things happen. I certainly hope they do.
