The Zimmerman Persecution

Good day all. It’s been a while since I delved into the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin incident and I thought I would see what’s happening. The prosecution has been trying to show that Zimmerman was actively hunting down Martin in a raced base incident.

There’s just one small problem. The Prosecution’s witnesses have been pretty much confirming Zimmerman’s account of what happened. First we had Martin’s “Girlfriend” basically being a complete and utter ass and apparently having a few issues with the truth. The hand written statement she can’t read the letter she claimed she wrote to Martin’s mother ((Trayvon Martin’s girlfriend admits she can’t read the letter she supposedly wrote to his mother about his death)). Then we have the prosecutions latest witnesses pretty much confirming everything happened the way Zimmerman said it did. Here’s a few details from Fox News:

The Sanford police detective who questioned George Zimmerman the night he shot Trayvon Martin became the latest prosecution witness to appear to do more harm than good to the state’s case, recalling a somber conversation that touched on Zimmerman’s faith and the fear he said he felt when Martin told him “You’re going to die tonight.”

I’m not a lawyer, but when the witness you call to buttress your case against the defendant talks about just how upset the defendant was, you got major problems.

Singleton testified that a shocked Zimmerman replied, “He’s dead?” to which she said, “I thought you knew that.”

Detective Doris Singleton testified Monday that Zimmerman seemed somber and conflicted as she interviewed him after the February 2012 shooting.

I wonder what the jurors are thinking when the police officer taking a statement from the defendant is the one to tell him the “victim” is dead? Then Zimmerman and Singleton got into a conversation on religion.

She said Zimmerman asked her about the crucifix around her neck and buried his head in his hands upon learning Martin had died.

“I had a silver cross on and he asked me if I was Catholic,” Singleton said during testimony. “I said, ‘No. I’m Christian. Why are you asking?'”

She said Zimmerman replied, saying that he had noticed the cross and told Singleton that it was “always wrong to kill” someone.

I would say that Officer Sinclair provided honest and accurate answers, must to the annoyance of the prosecution.

Assistant Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda appeared frustrated at times by the prosecution witness’ testimony, which, like previous witnesses put on by the state, at times seemed to put Zimmerman in a sympathetic light. Several times, De La Rionda turned his back on the witness stand and looked to his co-counsel, almost in frustration.

Hey Bernie! It’s called telling the truth while under oath! You might want to try it some time. Then we have an audio expert on the stand talking about who might have been screaming on the audio tapes.

Hirotaka Nakasone, an FBI audio voice analyst who examined eight audio recordings related to the February 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin, said he was unable to identify or even peg an age to the person whose screams were heard on the tape. He said the pitch of one’s voice goes “all over the place” under extreme stress.

It “was not possible to determine” the age of the person who was screaming, for approximately 2.5 seconds, he said under questioning from assistant prosecutor Richard Mantei. “Guessing age is a little complicated.”

I have to ask, when did the Prosecution decide to do the Defense attorney’s job for him? Now Zimmerman’s attorney is playing it very cautious of course.

We’re in the middle of it. They’ve got a lot more to show. These things build up slow, and it’s sort of like pieces of a puzzle,” O’Mara said. “People say, ‘wait a minute, I can’t see the picture yet.’ They’re very good prosecutors, they’re gonna do a very good job, and they’re gonna put on their evidence. We’ll see how it goes. We’re certainly ready to respond to it.”

So far, Mr. O’Mara hasn’t had to put a lot of effort in since the prosecution team has pretty much been doing his job for him. I happened to tune in to Fox’s “The Five” after work and saw them talking about this case. Greta Van Sustern, who also has a show on fox and is a lawyer, was in the courtroom today. She and the other lawyer on the panel both agree that this prosecution appears to be even more inept then the OJ Simpson prosecutor when he was on trial or murder. (My take on what they were saying. AW)

I would disagree that the prosecution is incompetent. I would say they are unethical instead. The original investigation of the shooting deemed it justifiable, but the race-mongers started making noises about rioting in the streets if Zimmerman wasn’t put on death row and summarily executed. The governor, showing what a true coward he is, appointed a special prosecutor to basically “Get” George Zimmerman. This is why he appointed Angela Corey to the case.

Ms. Corey apparently has a history of playing fast and loose with the law. This case has been a classic in prosecutorial misconduct, overcharging a defendant, suppression of exculpatory evidence and all around incompetence. She has been blasted by lawyers for her antics across the political spectrum. Even Alan Dershowitz has slammed her over this prosecution and Corey’s response was to threaten him.

Now I can’t read the future, but it sure looks to me that this case was nothing more then a Nyfong ((Michael Byron “Mike” Nifong)), ((The Duke Lacrosse Case)) like attempt at a political railroad job of George Zimmerman. However, the facts, those same pesky facts Corey and her team have tried to suppress, have been coming out.

If Corey and her team had any ethics, they would have done an honest investigation and just as the local police did, determined this was a regrettable, but justifiable shooting. That she didn’t speaks volumes about her. Now I’m not certain, but I think I heard that if Zimmerman is acquitted, and he can show this was a politically motivated prosecution, he can seek legal redress against the state of Florida and Angela Corey. I can not and will not state this as a fact since I am not knowledgeable in the laws of Florida. I do think that when she loses, she should be hauled up on charges before the State Bar Association and stripped of her law license. She is a living embodiment of everything that is wrong with the justice system today.
