Jack is Back!

America’s chief counter-terrorism specialist, Jack Bauer is coming back out of exile and will be making life for terrorist interesting, painful and greatly shortened. For those of you who don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, Fox has announced that the show “24” will be returning as a miniseries in May.

To bring you up to speed, the final episode of “24” was shown in May of 2010 and brought to a close 9 years of Jack Bauer and his team at the Counter Terrorist Unit, (CTU), with a dramatic ending. Many loose ends were tied up and Jack was last seen heading off into the sunset with the entire world after him. The whole concept of the show was Jack dealing with a terrorism incident in a 24 hour period. (Hence the name of the show “24”) When the series ended, there were a number of people upset with the ending and there had been talk of a movie or a miniseries. It was announced a little over a year ago that a miniseries was going to be made. Now it will be shown starting on May 5^th. Here are the details from Fox News:

The clock starts again May 5 for Jack Bauer as Fox unveils its reboot of “24? with a two-hour premiere episode. “24: Live Another Day” will settle into its 9 p.m. Monday time period the following week for the rest of its 12-episode run. Fox is mounting a massive promo push for the return of the real-time drama thriller, the session for which will open Fox’s portion of the Television Critics Assn. press tour on Monday.

I, for one will be setting up my DVR to record the entire series. We will once again see Jack show what a pussy “Bond, James Bond, 007” is compared to Jack Bauer. Bond has all those fancy gizmos. All Jack had was an encrypted cell phone, Chloe O’Brian handling his satellite feeds and intelligence needs and of course, the “Jack Sack” which contained all his ammunition needs.
