New York and New Jersey order Ebola quarantines

Good day all. Last week the governors of New York and New Jersey issued orders that all healthcare workers returning from the African Ebola hot zones must be quarantined for 21 days. The first healthcare worker affected is not happy about this.

The first person, Kaci Hickox, was placed into quarantine in New Jersey after returning from Africa last week. She had been treating Ebola patients under the auspices of Doctors without Borders. She wrote a column for the Dallas Morning News complaining about her treatment. Here is some of what she wrote:

I am a nurse who has just returned to the U.S. after working with Doctors Without Borders in Sierra Leone – an Ebola-affected country. I have been quarantined in New Jersey. This is not a situation I would wish on anyone, and I am scared for those who will follow me. I am scared about how health care workers will be treated at airports when they declare that they have been fighting Ebola in West Africa. I am scared that, like me, they will arrive and see a frenzy of disorganization, fear and, most frightening, quarantine.

Reading through your column, all I see is a spoiled little brat who thinks she’s special. Your column is nothing more then a multi-paragraph whine. You claim to be oh so caring, but when it inconveniences you, you start acting like a little cyrbaby.

Perhaps you haven’t heard about what happened with another idiot from Doctors without Borders, one Doctor Craig Spencer who, like you, came back from Ebola country. He was infected and before he or anyone else realized it, had been cavorting all over New York City. Thanks to his complete lack of concern, several other people are now in quarantine, one of whom is his fiancee. I suspect she is going to be the next confirmed case of Ebola.

Because of this, and the Thomas Duncan mess, people have decided not to take any chances. While I do congratulate you on your willingness to help in Africa, you also need to understand that we have to take precautions to make sure you are not infected. This means you will be parked in a 21 day quarantine. We’ve been lucky in that to date, all those infected with the exception of Mr. Duncan have survived. However, the costs of treatment for these people is astronomical.

It’s far better to isolate anyone who has been in close contact with Ebola patients, even if they were wearing protective gear, then to just let you and others wander in and put hundreds of others at risk. I fully expect the ACLU to once again work to cause massive damage to American Society and try and get you sprung.

Fine you spoiled little brat. They get you out, thanks to some moron of a judge, and you do turn out to be infected, and you manage to pass it on, then as far as I’m concerned, they can just park you someplace and let you basically dissolve and bleed out from every orifice you have. Emperor Misha of the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler put it perfectly.

Just shut the fuck up and watch some Netflix, why don’t you?
