Good day all. If you’ve ever had to deal with some twit vegan, and how they will accuse you of being worse than the Nazi operating the gas chambers every time you eat a steak, Then this story will just make you day.
It seems that a vegan diet will make you a depressed, miserable human being. Here are the details from CBS Philadelphia:
Many Americans have turned to a vegetarian diet for many different reasons. Maybe you just think it will make you generally more healthy. Perhaps you want to trim a few pounds. Maybe you want to supplement your already healthy lifestyle. However, will you be happier?
If I have to give up my steak, hamburgers and pork roasts, I can tell you I won’t be happier.
Some research suggests that the exact opposite is the truth and Women’s Health recently looked into some of the research and cautions people to be well aware of how going meatless can impact your mental health.
The article cites an Australian study from last year which found that vegetarians reported that they were less optimistic about their future more often than people who kept meat in their diets. That same study found that vegetarians were 18 percent more likely to report having depression and 28 percent more likely to experience panic attacks and anxiety.
Well now, that explains a lot. It also explains the antics of your average, miserable, Vegan. Now what is the cause of these issues?
While there might be some clear reasons to avoid meat, it has benefits as well that impact your mind and your mood. B Vitamins, zinc, iron and tryptophan are all found in abundance in meat and are often time in low quantities, or missing altogether, in vegetarian diets.
Oh I’m sure that’s part of it, but there is also a more important reason. All your friends are over that the neighborhood BBQ, having a great time and you’re sitting at home, watching the plants grow in your garden. I can’t think of anything else more depressing. In fact, I think I’ll head over to the Aloha Snackbar for some nice BBQ.
