Good day all. Just after I posted my review of Season IV of House of Cards, I saw a headline on Fox saying that Ted Cruz thinks that the Trump supporters are ‘relatively low information,’ not very ‘engaged’.
If that is Cruz’s way of winning friends and influencing potential voters to switch from Trump to himself, well, it isn’t working. Here are the details from Fox News:
Ted Cruz said in an interview ahead of next week’s critical primaries that Donald Trump’s supporters have “relatively low information” and are “not that engaged” – an oblique dig at the very voters Cruz is aggressively courting.
Dig is right. The one thing you don’t want to do is call any potential supporters morons, which is just what Senator Cruz has done, even if he doesn’t realize it.
The Texas senator, though, said in the interview with CBN News that he’s winning over these voters as they “inform themselves” and learn more about Trump’s record. Explaining his comments, he referred to Trump’s past remarks about the “poorly educated” supporting him.
I’m not so sure about that. Trump’s people are a cross section of America, covering every income and education level. As I understand it, Trump is doing better with those who didn’t go to collage, but to call them “Low information” is not only insulting, it’s also dead wrong.
“Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice,” Cruz told CBN. “Where we are beating him is when voters get more engaged and they get more informed. When they inform themselves, they realize his record. He’s what they’re angry at. He is the corruption, and if you want someone to stand up to Washington, the only one who has been doing so in this race is me.”
Is that why Trump is leading in Florida and is either leading, or is close to the lead in Ohio? Are all those voters “Uninformed?”
Cruz’s comments about Trump’s supporters comes ahead of another Republican debate Thursday night in Florida, the site of one of five big primaries next Tuesday. The stakes are higher than ever, as those five primaries could decide the fate of Trump’s remaining rivals.
I have a feeling that Donald Trump is going to drop yet another nuke on Ted Cruz over this remark, just as soon as he gets the wording right. Cruz is not doing himself any favors with all the Frank Underwood style dirty tricks. At least Frank Underwood doesn’t insult his supporters where they can hear him. (Note to Ted: House of Cards is a novel, not a training manual)
Originally, I was hoping that Trump and Cruz could pull themselves up from the mud a bit and come together as President and Vice President. Trumps deal making abilities as well and his not being a politician could balance with Ted Cruz’s knowledge of the Senate. (Trump/Cruz would be the ticket) Cruz seems determined to end any possibility of this. Granted, Trump has been lobbing his share of artillery rounds at Cruz, but I don’t think he’s been insulting the Cruz supporters. We shall see what the primaries bring next week regarding who might be the Republican nominee.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing when I heard that. I took it a bit personally since I am hoping for a Trump presidency. I have a bachelor of science, am a gainfully employed professional and follow what is going on a much as my blood pressure will allow 🙂 I follow close enough to know that Cruz voted against an amendment to the Trade
Deal that would require congress to be consulted if China (or other
nations) were to join after the fact: that stupid trade deal shouldn’t have passed anyway, Give the boy king more power???? Morons
