Good day all. Well, it’s daytime anyway. I’ve just finished doing my taxes and I am not a happy camper. Actually, I’m pretty angry, which is amusing since I am the Angry Webmaster of Anger Central.
I actually finished my taxes a month or so ago, but have been holding off filing. Why? I have to come up with $6400 dollars this year. This is the most I’ve ever had to pay. Usually, I have a small refund. Granted, I had an unusual year last year, with cashing in a small pension I didn’t know I had, and a fairly sizable series of stock dividends.
The problem here is that I’m not working right now. It isn’t going to help that my unemployment will be running out either this week or next, and I’ll be working through my savings. If I don’t find something in the next month or so, the Anger Central Primary Dwelling will have to go on the market. Where I’ll live after that and what I will do with all the household items I collected with the former Mrs. Webmaster is unknown. My circumstances are very similar to what happened in 2008 when I was out of work for a good 11 months.
Who do I blame for this? Well that’s easy. I blame Barack Obama and the United States Government. If you’ve followed this blog, you’ll get the impression that I’m not a fan of our current president or the morons in Congress. You would be correct. Thanks to them, along with the out of control bureaucracy, Americans are being forced to fork over most of their paychecks to the black hole in Washington.
Back to my search for gainful employment, I’ve submitted to around a thousand openings in the last 6 months. From that I had hundreds of phone screens. From there, I was able to get a grand total of 8 face to face interviews, some of them last several hours. From that, not one single offer.
Last week I had three separate rejections, and three phone screens. (I have one more Monday) In most cases, I wasn’t notified that I was out of the running, and in a couple of instances, I only found out when I asked where things stood. That is something else that angers me, the refusal of companies that you have actually interviewed at to follow up with candidates and let them know they won’t be getting a job.
Well, it’s been a really bad year for me. Out of work for 6 months. Mrs. Webmaster decided she didn’t want to be Mrs. Webmaster anymore, after 12 years together and the economy outright sucks thanks to Obama, the Democrats and the cowards of the Republican party.
Sigh
Thatisall (For now)
