Store owner to robbers, “Batter UP!”

Good day all. I discovered this over the weekend. This was an attempted robbery that occurred in 2013. A pair of bright boys decided to rob a store using knives. This occurred in Calgary, Canada. Well, the store owner decided he didn’t approve of these impolite individuals.

Rather than hand over his hard earned money, he decided now would be a good time to try out for Major league baseball, using one of the heads of the criminals as a baseball. The whole thing, along with the able assists by a customer and the local fire department were caught on the store’s security cameras. Observe:

As you can see, the criminal who’s head did an impression of a line drive over the center field wall, went down like a sack of wet cement. His cohort in crime tried to help him out when the store owner laid into him as well. Deciding that cowardice was not an issue, he tried to make a run for it when he ran into a customer with a chair who tried to push him back into the store.

The second criminal managed to get away and the customer decided it was his turn to try out for the local soccer team with a few well placed kicks to the first criminal. He also kicked the knife away. The criminal, who, as you can see, was seeing stars and little birdies floating around his head, was barely able to stand.

The customer went out and flagged down a pair of firefighters who happened to be nearby. They came in and promptly tackled the criminal and body slammed him into the couch. As they struggled with the criminal, the firefighters two coworkers came in and helped hold the criminal down on the floor. (He should have stopped resisting. That couch looks a lot more comfortable to anyone with a concussion and probable skull fracture)

One of the firefighter got on his radio and called for police back up. A few moments later, in comes one of Calgary’s rather attractive female officers who slaps the cuffs on the criminal who then, with the assistance of the firefighters, promptly hauls the criminal off to the prison ward of the local hospital.

According to the notes on the video, the criminal spent a week chained to a hospital bed. The store owner did have a mess he had to clean up. The criminal managed to void his bowels and his bladder all over the floor. I wonder if the store owner was offered a tryout with the Toronto Bluejays as a designated hitter?
