Former Top Gear hosts have named their new show

Good day all, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. It’s time to put politics aside and instead discuss something of far greater importance.

What might that be you ask? The name of the new Amazon show by former BBC Top Gear presenters, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond of course. First a little background. A little over a year ago, the BBC fired Jeremy Clarkson after he got into an altercation with some worthless screw up of a producer. Fellow presenters James May and Richard Hammond resigned, along with producer Andy Wilman.

Because of this, the BBC was basically raked over the coals and spent months trying to find some sort of replacement for Clarkson, May and Hammond. The new presenters, some Hollywood actor and a few nobodies from Britain and Europe, hasn’t aired yet and from what people are saying, is probably going to fall flat on it’s face.

There was a great deal of speculation on what the Three Wise Automotive Men were going to do. What they did was initiate a bidding war between Netflix and Amazon.com to create a new streaming car show. Amazon won the bidding and the new show is now in production. However, there was a small problem. No one had come up with a name for it…until now. Here are the details from Fox News:

We can finally confirm that the new show starring former “Top Gear” hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will be called “The Grand Tour.”

The new show will premiere this fall on Amazon Prime and is already being billed as a “Top Gear” rival.

eye roll

Some rival. That would be similar to putting the Boston Red Sox up against a junior high school baseball team, and the new Top Gear hosts are definitely NOT the Red Sox.

Few details have been released but judging by the new name and comments made on the respective hosts’ Twitter accounts, the format will be a lot like the previous “Top Gear” Christmas specials, where the trio travel the world with an assortment of vehicles.

Some of those vehicles will likely include Ford Motor Company’s Focus RS and Mustang, as well as the famous hypercar trio made up of the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder.

The announcement of “The Grand Tour” comes just as the BBC gears up for the launch of the new season of “Top Gear” starring six new hosts including American actor Matt LeBlanc. The new season of “Top Gear” starts later this month on British network BBC2 but will eventually be available on Netflix. A handful of trailers have been released in the lead up including an extended trailer just this morning.

I don’t know about you, but when the BBC fired, or sacked, as the Brits say, Jeremy Clarkson, I removed Top Gear from the schedule on the Anger Central DVR. From what I understand, I’m not alone. It will be interesting to see what happens to Top Gear. Personally, I think they’re going to suffer a massive engine failure.

train wreck!

The new Amazon version, The Grand Tour, will start streaming this fall on Amazon Prime. If you needed a reason to get Amazon Prime, this is it. I would also recommend getting an Amazon Fire Stick or a Fire TV to stream the new show properly. We certainly like ours in the Anger Central Entertainment Center.
