Mass shooting in Florida

Good day all. Last night there was a mass shooting with at least 20 killed at a gay bar in Orlando Florida. Additionally, at least 40 other people were wounded.

Since this incident just happened, and typically the initial news reports are either inadequate or outright wrong, the “72 Hour” rule is in effect. This means that anything reported in the first 72 hours must be checked, rechecked and checked again.

The reports now coming out indicate that this was not the act of a nutcase or someone who was a major league homophobe, but appears to have been yet another terrorist attack from the “Religion of Peace” (My ass), better known as Islam. As I mentioned, details are still in flux and the 72 hour rule is in effect. Here’s what is being reported from the Daily Mail:

A suspected Islamic extremist wielding an assault rifle and a handgun has killed about 20 people after taking party-goers hostage inside a gay club in Orlando. The gunman was carrying a suspicious device, possibly a suicide vest, when he opened fire on the dance floor inside Pulse in the early hours of this morning.

An FBI spokesman said the mass shooting is being investigated as an act of terrorism, adding that they are looking into whether this was an act of domestic or international terror, and if the shooter was a lone wolf. Police said the gunman, who was shot dead by officers, was believed to be in his 20s was not a local man, while the FBI believe he may have ‘leanings to radical Islamic terrorism’.

In other reports I’ve seen this morning, local police did do a “Controlled Detonation” of something inside that club. That may have been the alleged suicide vest. If this was a bomb vest, the it would make it highly unlikely that this was some Militant Redneck Homophobe. Blowing themselves up is not in their mindset. However, it is the mindset of a Muslim as is slaughtering homosexuals. Iran hangs homosexuals and ISIS does far worse to them.

At around 5am authorities sent in a SWAT team to rescue the hostages. Nine police officers used an explosive device to distract the hostage taker and rescue around 30 people. During the gunfire, an officer was shot, but he was saved by his helmet, and the gunman was killed. It was thought that at least one hostage had been locked in a bathroom with gunshot wounds.

First, a tip of the hat to the officers for going in. This is what SWAT was originally set up for. Second, the officer who was hit in the helmet is lucky. I suspect it was a crease rather than a square hit. Kevlar Helmets, while tough, generally won’t stop rifle rounds. Doing a little research, good ones will stop pistol rounds.

When the shooting started, people started running. One of the staff members, thinking clearly, made it possible for patrons to escape.

A bouncer knocked down a partition between the club area and an area in the back where only workers are allowed. People inside were able to then escape through the back of the club.

Since the attack, the FBI has come in and is investigating whether or not this was a terrorist attack, (Probability of this is very high), whether or not it was a domestic attack or if it was initiated from overseas. (ISIS has been making a lot of noise of late) One question I have is, wasn’t anyone in that club legally armed? A patron or a staff member? I agree with not having a gun if you plan on drinking, just as I would recommend not driving when drinking, but still, none of the staff had anything?

As I said, the 72 hour rule is in effect. We should know more in a few days. If this was another Islamic terror attack, rest assured that Obama will apologize to Muslims and try to cover it up…again.

The body count is now over 50 Killed and 50 wounded. It has been confirmed that the terrorists was a Muslim. Also that he is a registered Democrat.
