Third Officer acquitted in Freddy Grey case

Good day all. The third Baltimore police officer involved with the death of criminal Freddy Grey was acquitted by a judge this morning. This is the 3rd case brought against the officers who were involved in the arrest and transport of the criminal, Freddy Grey.

shocked-face

All three cases have, for lack of a better term, detonated massively in the faces of the State Attorney Marilyn Mosby who brought them to trial. Here are some of the details on the latest case from CBS Baltimore:

Officer Caesar Goodson, who was driving the police van inside which Freddie Gray suffered his fatal neck injury last April, has been found not guilty of second-degree “depraved heart” murder by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams.

Goodson, 46, has also been found not guilty on charges of manslaughter, assault, misconduct in office and reckless endangerment.

So basically he was cleared of all charges by the judge.

“The judge said that the evidence simply was not there, that there was no way that Officer Goodson would have known that Freddie Gray was injured until that final stop at the Western district, and that’s when a medic was called. He chided the state for using the term ‘rough ride,’ he said that it’s a highly-charged term, they failed to define it.”

There’s a bit more to it then that of course. The judge also was very annoyed when he found out that the State’s Attorney had hidden exculpatory evidence from both him and the Defense team. One of these was known about. There was another prisoner in the van and he reported that the trip was smooth, and that Grey had been throwing himself around the back. There was also the report from the Medical Examiner. Originally, he was inclined to rule the death accidental, but it seems he may have been pressured into ruling it a homicide.

WJZ’s Mike Hellgren says “the prosecution’s theory of the case did not fit the facts that they had presented to the judge and he was clearly troubled by this.”

The judge said that the evidence simply was not there, that there was no way that Officer Goodson would have known that Freddie Gray was injured until that final stop at the Western district, and that’s when a medic was called. He chided the state for using the term ‘rough ride,’ he said that it’s a highly-charged term, they failed to define it.”

Because, they simply made it up. And as for the remaining police officers awaiting trial?

I find it hard to believe that he would convict any of the officers in any of the four remaining trials to come,” Hellgren says.

This who mess began when the Mayor of Baltimore along with the State’s Attorney decided they would railroad the officers in question irregardless of the facts. Recall that when the news of Grey’s death came out, the Black Lives Matter, (And no one else’s), decided to riot and burn Baltimore to the ground.

Rome burning

The Mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, instead of having the riots put down, ordered the police to back off and let them loot, pillage and burn the area. Thanks to this, and the massive overcharging of the officers, we will never really know what happened to Freddy Grey. My guess is, since he wasn’t belted in, and was heard by the other prisoner, (The vans have separate prisoner compartments I gather), throwing himself about, He managed to slip and fall at just the right angle when the driver happened to make a turn.

don't confuse

Now that the State’s Attorney is 0-3, and the other cases are even weaker, will she continue trying them? There is one trial that ended in a hung jury that is scheduled for retrial, but if the defense team is on the ball, they too will forgo a jury trial this time and just have a judge rule on the case. We shall see.
