Trump a threat to GOP senators? Not so much

Good day all. The Republican convention is in full swing. The NeverTrumpers and RINOS4Hillary have been body slammed to the floor. That just leaves the belief primarily among Democrats that Donald Trump will cause massive losses in the House and Senate.

Typical Democrat Voter

Or does it? The general theme of the Never Trumpers and RINOS4Hillary is that Donald Trump will cost the GOP the Senate and major losses in the house. Apparently, that may not be entirely accurate. Here are a few details from McClatchyDC:

The hopes of congressional Democrats that presumptive Republican Donald Trump’s presidential run will hurt incumbent Senate Republicans might be just that – hopes. A new Quinnipiac Poll on Thursday finds three incumbent Republicans in key swing states comfortably leading their Democratic challengers.

The poll shows that Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Rob Portman of Ohio are not only fending off their Democratic challengers but also, in some cases, they’re widening their leads.

Rubio leads Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., by 50-37 percent, a 6-point gain since Quinnipiac’s last poll of Florida voters in June. Rubio is also ahead of Rep. Alan Grayson, another potential Democratic challenger, by 50-38 percent.

Well, let’s be honest. While I think Rubio is a fraud, compared to Alan Grayson, he is the height of integrity. Grayson is a low life dirtbag, and frankly if he wins the Democrat nomination, deserve to be crushed into paste.

Democrats made fun of Sen. Rubio when he opted for a last-minute re-election bid in Florida, but he may be on the way to the last laugh, having quickly opened double-digit leads over both Democratic challengers,” said Peter, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Up here in New Hampshire, we have Kelly Ayotte. She has been a complete disappointment, but compared to Jean Shaheen and her probable opponent, Governor Maggie Hassan, she is a bright light. Of course, if someone better comes along in the GOP primary, I may vote her out. In the general? I’ll hold my nose and vote for Ayotte if she’s all we have. At least Ayotte doesn’t have a history of covering up child molesting. Actually, at one time, I think her job was putting those types in prison.

In Wisconsin, Paul Ryan is in the fight for his life against a primary challenger, Paul Nehlen. Whoever wins that primary, I suspect will win the general election as well. To be honest, I think the polls on how badly Trump and the Republicans will do in November are nothing more than wishful thinking. To date, the pollsters have been pretty bad overall. We shall see what happens in November.
