Good day all. News broke yesterday that Fox News host, Megyn Kelly was jumping to NBC. The announcement was met with yawns, and “So what?” from many people. Basically she was told “Don’t let the doorknob hit you on your well toned ass on the way out.”
In her place, it has just been announced that the 7pm host, Tucker Carlson, will move into Kelly’s old 9pm slot. Kelly made no secret of her unhappiness and was demanding $25 million for her new contract. Her feud with Donald Trump during the campaign was a ratings gold mine in the short term, however, Kelly’s part in the dismissal of Roger Ailes did not win her any friends.
Tucker Carlson recently took over the spot that was long, and boringly held by Greta Van Susteren. Since he took over the slot, the ratings have improved markedly. I’ve watched Carlson as he assaults one Liberal after another, using the most horrifying of weapons, Logic, Facts and the Liberal’s own words, against them. The original story of the changes broke on Drudge this morning, and Fox has just formally announced it on their web site. In the announcement, Fox said:
Tucker Carlson is assuming the 9pm time slot being vacated by outgoing host Megyn Kelly, and Martha MacCallum will be taking Carlson’s place at 7pm with a program covering President Trump’s first 100 days in office, the Executive Chairman of 21st Century Fox Rupert Murdoch announced Thursday.
Then Rupert Murdoch, who wasn’t happy with having to terminate Roger Ailes added this:
“In less than two months, Tucker has taken cable news by storm with his spirited interviews and consistently strong performance,” Murdoch said in a statement. “Viewers have overwhelmingly responded to the show and we look forward to him being a part of Fox News’ powerful primetime line-up.”
Carlson’s show in the 7pm slot was hammering the competition, and was a great lead in to the “Ever so full of himself” Bill O’Reilly.
After a record-breaking launch in the 7pm hour last November, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” has become one of the most buzzed about cable news programs on television. Featuring analysis and debates with guests from across the political and cultural spectrum, the show finished December as the number two cable news program in the Adults 25-54 demographic behind only “The O’Reilly Factor.”
I stopped watching Bill “I’m so in love with myself” O’Reilly years ago. Occasionally, when he has a guest host on, I may tune in. I’ve actually started watching Tucker Carlson more and more as he rips one liberal progressive hypocrite after another piece by piece. As for Megyn Kelly? I watcher show a few times and then went “ehh, not worth my time.”
I won’t be at all surprised that a year from now, Carlson isn’t ahead of Bill “Buy my latest book” O’Reilly. As for Megyn Kelly and her move from the top rated news network to one of the old Fake News sites? I think this says it all.
