Good day all. On the heels of Donald Trump’s confirmation as the next President of the United States, we have an interesting development in Ohio. The GOP State Chairman, who tried to sandbag Trump during the general election, was booted from his position.
The now former head of the Ohio State Republican party, Matt Broges, was a major supporter of Governor John Kasich. He supported Kasich’s run in the primary, (Wich would be expected), however, after Trump won the nomination, instead of throwing all his support and resources to aid Trump, he sandbagged him. Now he’s been removed from his position. Here are the detail from The Washington Times:
Donald Trump got some political payback Friday against Gov. John Kasich after the chairman of the Ohio Republican party was ousted in favor of the president-elect’s preferred pick. The Ohio State GOP’s central committee replaced Matt Borges, a top Kasich ally, with Jane Timken after Mr. Trump lobbied members on her behalf, according to Cleveland.com.
This has to really stick in Kasich’s craw, but why he would expect any different is beyond me. Trump does not forgive and forget when people try to knife him in the back.
Mr. Kasich refused to endorse Mr. Trump in the presidential race and skipped the Republican National Convention in his home state of Ohio, signaling his displeasure with the New York billionaire.
For his part, Mr. Borges also was lukewarm about Mr. Trump’s candidacy.
That’s putting it mildly to say the least. One of the reasons for Borges removal involved the attempted coup last October when the news about Trump’s remarks 11 years ago with regards to women was leaked as an attempted “October Surprise”.
Borges, while not outright pulling his support for Trump last October, but was just fine with others like John Kasich saying they wouldn’t support Trump under any circumstances. Well, what goes around, comes around, eh Matt? You may have thought all your work in Ohio would protect you, but you demonstrated that you couldn’t be trusted.
The GOP had enjoyed a series of electoral triumphs since Mr. Kasich helped move Mr. Borges into the chairmanship in 2013 — fueling speculation that he could escape punishment from Mr. Trump. That was not the case, as Mr. Trump’s support for Ms. Timken, vice chair of the Stark County GOP, was seen as a way to get revenge against Mr. Kasich.
“I couldn’t have imagined the up and downs and wildness of it all when I was first elected by this body in 2013,” Mr. Borges said after the vote. “When you think about the statewide sweep in 2014, bringing the convention to Ohio for the first time in 80 years, hosting the first Republican debate, and then a statewide sweep again in 2016, I don’t know how I could have put any more of my heart and soul into succeeding and making sure that we elected Republicans and we moved this state and country in the right direction.”
Here’s the problem. While you were quite good at getting a bunch of down ticket Republicans elected, you were also quietly trying to throw the presidential election into the House of Representatives in hopes that they would choose Kasich or some other RINO member of the GOP(e). Like your pal, Kasich, you missed what was happening in the country.
Your governor was pushing amnesty for illegals, the fraudulent “Free Trade” deals that only helped other countries at American’s expense, not to mention that John Kasich had no ideas other then being a “Democrat Lite” and continuing the expansion of the federal government’s control over the citizens.
Now, Mr. Matt Borges, you have just been the recipient of President Trump’s favorite line:

Goodbye RINO. Don’t let the dooknob hit you in the ass on your way out the door.
