Good day all, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. Yesterday, the Blog was essentially offline for most of the day. I contacted our hosting service and we looked into the problem. Basically, the MySQL database that handles the blog had run amuck.
According to the techs, there were a huge number of runaway processes, which basically killed the blog. They ended up killing every single process and restarting the systems. Once that happened, the blog stabilized and the site became available.
The main site, where people post their rants, was unaffected since it doesn’t use a database. (They hadn’t been invented when the Blithering Idiot Angry Webmaster started it back in the stone age of the internet. Once things quieted down, the Angry Webmaster was able to post the daily blog entry. We are continuing to watch the systems.
