What Obamacare really means to me

Good day all. Last week when I updated the main site I stepped out of character to announce my father was in the hospital. I can update you by saying his prognosis is good. He will be undergoing a procedure to basically inject a type of medical cement into his fractured vertebra thereby sealing and stabilizing it.

This is a minimally invasive procedure that probably didn’t exist 20 years ago. When I spoke with my father and others in my family I expected major surgery and the insertion of some sort of metal pins into the bone. Considering my fathers age, this would have been a very risky procedure, not to mention extremely expensive.

So what does this have to do with Obamacare? Simple really. When I was visiting my father last night my wife came along with flowers to help cheer him up. My wife is Chinese and has experienced the joys of socialized medicine. She said that in China my father would have been strapped to a board and kept in bed for 100 days until the bone healed.

Under Obamacare, pretty much all medical research that gave us the MRI that my father had, allowing the doctors to pinpoint the fracture and design treatment for him, the medical cement that will be used to seal up the fracture and the techniques used by the doctors to inject it into place would never have happened. In all probability, my father would have been strapped to a board and put into some sort of state run nursing facility and basically warehoused.

Now, some of you may be thinking, “Well he’s old and is costing the taxpayers money.”

Wrong.

My father still works and has a home office I set up for him. Last year he pulled in 6 figures. He pays a lot in taxes and tries to take nothing from the government unless it’s forced on him. With the procedure now planned, My father will be back on his feet fairly quickly. He was already talking about getting back home a few days after the procedure. Realistically, I expect him to be in the hospital another week while they make sure everything is locked down tight.

Once he gets home, I plan to move his office from the upstairs down into the main part of the house so he won’t have to climb stairs anymore. My estimate is he will be working again within the month, if not sooner. He has a laptop as a backup system and can use that until we get all the wiring done. (He uses a DSL connection directly into his upstairs office)

Now, under Obamacare as administered by Donald Berwick, my father probably wouldn’t be given the care and treatments he needs. Comrade Berwick is a firm believer in socialized government run medicine, probably because he’s never actually had to deal with it. What Berwick, Obama and all the other progressive liberal Democrats fail to understand, is that the American people do not want to wreck the finest medical system in the world. We told them this last year when they rammed through Obamacare. What they have completely missed is what will happen when someone comes in for medical care and is denied. Under the old system this person would have had no problem getting treatment, either for him/herself, or a family member.

The answer is frighting.

If someone had been told he or a family member wasn’t going to be treated, that officious arrogant bureaucrat would have found him/herself looking at a one way trip to the morgue. When it comes to people looking for help for their family and being blocked, especially care they used to get, people tend to get a might ornery. It’s one thing if the Feds say no and you then pay for the services and treatments yourself, it’s quite another when you are told that you or your family members life is not important or worth saving.

Since the progressive liberal Democrats are collectivists through and through, the individual generally doesn’t matter to them…unless they happen to be the individual. Then since they are important and special, they get everything they need.

I have news for you twerps. It ain’t gonna happen.

Obamacare is going to be repealed. Of course the jug-eared idiot in the White house has no intention of killing off ‘His Baby” so the new congress will probably start defunding it until they can get Obama out of office in 2012. The vast majority of Americans absolutely HATE Obamacare and want it stopped TODAY!

Now for those of you who still think Socialized Single Payer Government Run healthcare is the way to go, let me give a few things to consider.

When I met my wife, I visited her father who was in a Chinese Hospital. He had bone cancer. I don’t know if anything could have been done for him under our present system or not, but he didn’t have the opportunity to find out.

The hospital was a dark, dingy army hospital. ((If you think the VA hospitals are bad, you should have seen this one)) The room was cold and my wife’s family had to provide blankets, sheets, towels, pretty much everything you get in an American hospital. Eventually they sent him home and he passed away about 6 months after I met him.

The second incident occurred right after my wife and I returned to America after our Wedding ((basically a giant party. Not legally binding)) in China. My wife’s uncle gave her away. We found out after our wedding in the States that he had died a month later. Her family didn’t tell her until after our marriage here because they didn’t want to ruin her big day.

What happened was shocking and would have gotten a few doctors sued in the States. My wife’s uncle went to the hospital complaining of chest pains. They had him in the waiting room for 4 hours before they finally got to him. Then they gave him some aspirin and sent him home. Two hours later he keeled over and died.

Here, and just about anywhere else, my wife’s uncle would have been attached to a heart monitor within minutes of his arrival at the emergency room. They would have seen he was having a major problem and proceeded to treat him accordingly. Instead, they just sent him away. IN China, only the elite’s generally have the first rate care we take for granted in the states. Doctors and nurses are government employees and are not well paid. This is what Obama and the Progressive Liberal Democrats have planned for us.

And now you know why I want Obamacare to die a quick death.

My father should recover in fairly short order. In countries such as England, where they have National Healthcare, he would not be receiving the care he needs. In other countries, the doctors probably would have murdered him by now. ((UK Doctors Face Jail if They Refuse to Euthanize Patients))

So, do you still think socialized medicine is great? I sure as hell don’t!

******UPDATE*********

My father pulled a fast one on the family. He was scheduled for his procedure tomorrow. He had it done today and is now in recovery. My brother knew and sort of forgot to tell anyone about it, so a parade of visiting family members walked into his hospital room and found that the bed was no occupied by someone else.

When I left he was in recovery and apparently everything went fine.
