System Upgrades, WordPress 3.1

Good day all, it’s the Angry Systems Administrator with some news from the bowels of Anger Central.

Last weekend, I took the opportunity to upgrade the blog to WordPress 3.1. This has been out for about a month, but I held back and waited until other eager beavers had installed it first.

In other words, I did what Custer should have. I sent out scouts. 😉

It is different, I’ll say that. One thing I noticed on another site was the addition of a tool bar across the top of the web site. This apparently is meant to let registered users do things depending on their access rights. I’m still figuring out how it works. Since it doesn’t interfere with the running of the blog my basic response is “Meh, leave it.”

The back end widgets are a bit different, and frankly make sense. Anyone doing links knows what a pain it was to insert them with the old version. The new version removes a couple of steps.

The plugins we use all seem to work just fine, which is good. All in all it’s a nice update to WordPress. Of course, since I was expecting a complete disaster, I backed everything up several ways. Thankfully I didn’t need them. 🙂

One last thing.

How many of you forgot to set your clocks ahead Saturday, March 12? Yeah, I did and I overslept. 🙂

Well, enjoy WordPress 3.1
