Dude, Is there any question? Good day all. Recently, the Anger Central Primary Dwelling acquired an air fryer. Both I and She Who Must Be Obeyed, (SWMBO), have been interested in them for a while now, but the cost of buying one put us off. (SWMBO’s Mantra: “To expensive! Don’t buy”)

Recently, I was at the Angry Sister and Angry Brother in-law’s house helping demolish a section they are planning on renovating. The Angry Brother in-law needed me to bring the Anger Central cargo vehicle so we could load it up and take it to the local dump recycling center. While looking around I noticed a box with an air fryer in it. My sister asked me if I wanted it, and that she had used it only three times. I asked what was wrong with it and she said she just didn’t like it.

Of course I said yes, and at this point she yelled out “Hey Husband! I got rid of the Air Fryer!” I brought it back to the Anger Central Primary Dwelling and found that the Angry Sister hadn’t bothered including the instruction book. No problem, I was able to download it and quickly learn how it worked. Then it was another hour on YouTube getting more details and some recipes.
SWMBO was working late and didn’t get home until I had turned in for the night. (I am a notorious early riser and she is a night person) I stuck a note on the box that said $100 FREE! The next morning, once she regained consciousness, She quizzed me on it. She’s very interested in the unit, and is thinking up what she can cook in it. (Cat, dog, puppies, kittens, pigeons, the Easter bunny etc)

I’ve been using it for the last week or so on different things, and I like it! I started with some of SWMBO’s “Meat buns.” Think large dumplings with meat in them, about the size of your fist. (No, do NOT ask what the meat was. She will tell you while grinning evilly) Then it was a spicy Italian sausage, some beef kabobs, then a chicken breast. They all came out beautifully. I spent some money on a new thermometer, an oil sprayer and a bottle of avocado oil. Tonight, (Saturday), I tried a steak.
Oh My GOD! It came out great! I found a YouTube that advised the best way to prepare the meat and with a recipe for Garlic Herb Butter.
2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
½ tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
½ teaspoon minced garlic
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
? teaspoon salt (Skip salt if the butter is salted)
Of course, the biggest pain is clean up, and again, watching YouTube gave me a few ideas. First, I line the very bottom of the air fryer with foil. It catches all the drips and goo that comes off the cooking food. Next is the basket that everything sits in. That can be a pain, but I just sit it in the sink and let it soak for a while, then use a nylon brush to clean out the cage mesh.
When I mentioned this to the Angry Niece, she got a sudden faraway look in here eye and said “I never thought of doing that. I need to try it.” I also told her about some of the things I was trying out including a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Her comment was “You can cook that in an air fryer?” Yep, something else I found on YouTube, and honestly, it’s the best grilled ham and cheese sandwich I’ve ever had, far better than actually using a frying pan. (And no where near as messy either)
I have to be honest and admit I probably wouldn’t have bought this machine. The counter space in the Anger Central Primary Dwelling is a bit limited. (My offer on The Breakers in Rhode Island was rejected, sadly) However, since I share one trait with Liberals, getting free stuff, when it was offered, I grabbed it. (Note it was freely offered. I didn’t do a Kalifornistan Smash & Grab) I am not looking back.
If you don’t have one, get one, and don’t skimp. Mine is a 3 quart model, which is good enough for the two of us. 6 quarts might be better considering SWMBO tends to cook amounts of food suitable for an Infantry division. Still, she has yet had the time to give it a try. Soon enough, though, soon enough and she too will be hooked.
