Good day all. Much to the surprise of everyone, the Ukraine is still holding out, and in some cases, pushing back against the Russian invasion. Vladikins Putin is being seen as getting desperate and has been threatening the use of nuclear and chemical weapons.
The Ukrainians have been mobilizing, and while taking horrible civilian casualties from Putin’s terror bombings, appear to have their basic military forces fairly intact. (One person I know on a forum I follow insists that the Russians have surrounded and cut off most of the Ukrainian regulars. It seems no one has told the Ukrainians, or the Russians about this) Now comes yet another whack against Russia. The Ukrainians have just committed the ultimate doxxing. They have released the names and other information of 600 Russian spies in Europe. Here are the details from Fox News:
Ukraine‘s defense intelligence ministry released a list of more than 600 alleged Russian spies working in Europe in an apparent attempt to burn them and weaken Russia’s intelligence operations across the continent.
The intelligence wing of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine released the “list of employees of the FSB of the Russian Federation registered at the address: Moscow, St. Bolshaya Lubyanka” on Monday. The FSB is the successor agency to the KGB, Russia’s notorious spy arm.
The list, released in Russian and apparently unavailable on the English version of the ministry’s website, provides names, phone numbers, passport numbers, “registration addresses,” license plate numbers, and occasionally financial details for 620 alleged Russian spies. In a few cases, the list includes a home address.
Obviously, this has to be both vetted and taken with a grain of salt. In order for all of this to be verified, the Ukrainians would probably need to release information on how they got this list in the first place. One possibility wold be one of their own spies in the FSB. If so, that spy is, or soon will be burned. In any case, if this is even slightly accurate, the European police and intelligence agencies are going to be very busy for the foreseeable future.
One alleged FSB agent has a Skype address including the phrase “jamesbond007,” along with the characters “DB9,” referring to Bond’s Aston Martin. Another agent reportedly has a taste for “premium cars,” while a third is a heavy drinker who “systematically violates traffic regulations.”
Well, if true, no one can say these KGB FSB agents don’t have a sense of humor.
A former head of the British intelligence agency MI6 warned that only “10 per cent” of Russia’s operations across Europe have been uncovered, The Telegraph reported.
“We see the extent of Russian aggressive intelligence activities across Europe,” said Sir John Sawers, who led MI6 from 2009 to 2014. “We probably only know 10 per cent of what they’re doing. There will be a great deal that intelligence services do that we’re simply not aware of.”
So I gather you will be thanking the Ukrainians for their information?
Besides the battlefield losses the Russians have been experiencing, they have also been losing a lot of very valuable and secret equipment. There are reports that portable Electronic Warfare systems have been captured and handed over to the United States and NATO. Some of these we weren’t fully aware of or their capabilities. Now our engineers are tearing them down.
Regardless of how the war turns out, this is going to be a disaster for Russia. They’ve lost a huge amount of equipment, especially the top secret kind they would use against NATO and the United States. Now the Ukrainians have blown the whistle on hundreds of Russian spies. Without question, Western counter intelligence knew about some of them, but if the list the Ukrainians have provided proves out, Putin’s Folly is going to see a major roll up of their networks. Keep up the good fight Ukraine! We won’t send our forces in, but we can keep sending you the tools you need to grind up the Red Russian Army.
