Good day all. It’s finally happened. Today, (Monday July 24th 2023). Anger Central has taken deliver of the new Anger Central Corporate Vehicle. I picked up the 2023 Ford Bronco Big Bend 2-door model.
We have also traded in the old Anger Central Corporate vehicle, a Toyota Tacoma that was 13 years old and was costing us money. (Like replacing the transmission a year ago) We had to take out a loan, however we did put down a significant down payment. The payments are low and stretched out, however we are already looking at paying it off in a year or so.
We have been investigating the Bronco since we learned it was going to come out. The first year, we weren’t ready to “Pull the trigger.” Last year, The bad driver known as the Angry Webmaster and I had the chance to test drive one and we both liked it. However, as we were working with the Angry Bookkeeper to figure out the numbers, Ford closed the order book for 2023.
Finally, last August, we received a call from the dealership we were working with. They wanted to know if we were still interested, and if so, they could put us on the list. Our response? Hell YES! We went to the dealership and paid the $100 reservation fee, (Which would go to the purchase of the Bronco), and then we waited…And waited…And waited.
Finally, last march they called us and let us know that the order book would soon be open and would we like to make an order? “Hell Yes in spades!” It turned out that the order book was going to be opened for the 2023 model year for one day only.

Needless to say, while the Angry Idiot, and the worst driver on planet Earth, was kept busy writing what he considers thoughtful commentary, I went to the dealership and placed the order formally, with another $900 down payment. In June we received the VIN number and the date when the Bronco would be built.
I followed that for a month and when the notice came down that it was done, I contacted the dealership on next steps. Then we waited for our new Ford Bronco to be shipped. That happened last week, and it spent a few days at a rail head in Western Massachusetts waiting for the Transporter to pick it up. Last Saturday, the Dealership called and said “Come and GET IT!!”
The only problem was both the Useless Idiot and I were working the weekend at our Real World Jobs, so neither one of us could go up and get it. I had Monday off, (Thankfully the Useless Drooling Troll didn’t), and I went up to the dealership and closed the deal. The trade in for the old Anger Central Company car was about what I expected and the Angry Accountant gave me a nice big check for the down payment. I picked up a few little things on the maintenance packages and then drove off with it.
I like this car! Thanks to all the electronics in it, (Nice to have but not really needed), I have a bit of a learning curve to get everything configured. Since it’s the 2-door model, it doesn’t have a huge amount of space in the back, but the seats can be easily dropped. (I will miss the cargo capacity of the old pickup truck, but that’s what family is for. I can borrow theirs.)
This is the four cylinder version, however it has, in my opinion, far better acceleration then the six cylinder in the old car. It’s also an automatic transmission. Ford decided not to sell standard transmissions, (Gen X anti-theft devices), in this model year due to supply chain issues. (Ford should have had that fixed by now) I’ve also registered it and updated the auto insurance. I might also add that this is the eco-friendly version of the Ford Bronco. It’s green so that means it’s eco-friendly…doesn’t it? Now it’s time to enjoy it.
Thank you
