Interesting news from the Formerly Great Britain.

Good day all. Like most Americans, I blow hot and cold regarding the formally great Britain and what’s going on there. If it’s something that directly affects the United States, then I’m interested. In most cases, like most Americans, I don’t give a damn. Then a bit of surprising news drops.

Recently, Britain had an election and the Conservative Party, which is something like the American Republican party, only a bit more to the left, was completely destroyed by the Labour Party. (Note, I’m using the English spelling of the word “Labour,” Not the correct American spelling, “Labor.”) The reason for this wasn’t any love for the Socialist views of Labour. It was people getting tired of the Conservative Party flat out lying to the British people about immigration.

Almost within days of the election and Labour taking power, Voters Remorse set in and now the British people are trying to figure out how to get rid of Labour before they completely destroy Britain. This brings us to the Reform Party. This party is fairly new, originally founded as the Brexit Part in 2018. They worked to get the United Kingdom out of the European Union, seeing the EU abuse the sovereignty of the UK.

With that completed, the party rebranded and started looking at changing things in the UK. Recently, the membership of the Reform Party surpassed the Conservative Party for the first time. Here are the details from GB News:

Reform UK has made another giant leap towards breaking Britain’s two-party political system after surpassing the Tories in terms of signed-up members. The populist party, which is setting its sights on sending Nigel Farage to No10 in 2029, confirmed its total membership soared past the 131,680 paid grassroots Conservative base earlier today.

Needless to say, the Conservative Party was having none of this and is claiming that the Reform Party is “Cooking the numbers.” Here are a few details on that from Sky News:

Mr Farage, party leader and MP for Clacton-on-Sea, hailed the “historic moment” and said on X: “The youngest political party in British politics has just overtaken the oldest political party in the world. Reform UK are now the real opposition.”

But Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch accused the party of issuing misleading figures: “Manipulating your own supporters at Xmas eh, Nigel?. It’s not real. It’s a fake… [the website has been] coded to tick up automatically.”

Posting on X, she added that the Tories had “gained thousands of new members since the leadership election”.

Now as to what this means for the United States, basically it means absolutely nothing. Why is this? Typically, Americans tend to be a bit isolationist and unless something attracts our attentions, such as messing with America’s boats, we don’t care about other countries.

Now what exactly is the Reform Party? Beats the Hell out of me. I’m an American and really don’t care that much. From what little I can tell, and I know there are those over there on the other side of the pond who will cheerfully correct me, the Reform Party would be similar to if President Trump had formed a new political party and called it the Make America Great Again party.

Instead of what has actually happened with the GOP, the MAGA party would have signed up new members and tried to get as many of the old Republican Party as they could to “Jump Ship” and sign up with them. (Think Tulsi Gabbard leaving the Democrat party. She was an independent for a while, but has recently joined the GOP)

While some members would come from the Independent, or unenrolled voters, and a few from the Democrat Party, most would have come from the Republican party. They would also have brought with them any resources such as money and people to help the new party grow and win elections. This is what I think may be happening in Britain. All across Europe, the old line politicians, those pushing Globalism, suppressing things like Free Speech and allowing unfettered immigration from people who have no intention of assimilating, are starting to lose elections.

This is what happened with the UK’s Conservative Party. These establishment parties are starting to lose elections. With the reelection of the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump, we may see the rise of other Reform Party groups in other countries. We’re already seeing the Establishment types doing whatever they can to suppress them. I think the United Kingdom and Europe are going to be in for some interesting times over the next few years.
