Good day all. Well, it looks like yet another Jurassic Pol has decided to retire from Congress. Senator Richard Durbin, (Traitor-Il), has announced he will not seek reelection.
Durbin has been in office for 40+ years with very few years working in the Dreaded Private Sector. He’s also noted for backing Saddam Hussein and earned the nickname “Durbin the Turban” after comparing American soldier to Nazis. However, it looks like that he has decided that he doesn’t want to be yet another dinosaur dying in office and is pulling the plug. Here are the details from Fox News:
Sen. Dick Durbin, D- Ill., the Senate Democratic whip and the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, has announced he will not seek re-election in 2026.
“The decision of whether to run for re-election has not been easy,” Durbin said.
“I truly love the job of being a United States Senator. But in my heart, I know it’s time to pass the torch. So, I am announcing today that I will not be seeking re-election at the end of my term.”
That’s part of the problem with way to many members of Congress, both house and Senate. They think it’s their job and not what it’s supposed to be, a public service. Durbin was yet another reason we need to pass an amendment limiting the terms in office of congresscritters. (I like 12 years total)
His retirement is expected to set off a flurry of activity among a scrum of would-be successors, both Democratic and Republican.
Durbin is from Illinois. The seat is already going up for auction among the Democrat elites in that state. Considering how corrupt the state is, the chances of a Republican actually winning are slim and none and Slim has left for Texas.
Durbin represents Illinois, a solidly Democratic state, and Democrats are very confident that they’ll hold the seat in next year’s midterm elections with the GOP only capturing one Illinois Senate seat in the last 40 years.
The Illinois Nazis Democrats have spent the better part of a century rigging things to turn Illinois into a Single Party State and have pretty much succeeded. I understand the southern part of the state is more conservative, but they’ve been marginalized by Chicago.
National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) communications director Johanna Rodriguez said that Democrats like Durbin are leaving office because of losing policies.
Another Senator leaving is one of mine, Jean Shaheen. Several others have also decided to pull the plug as well. Since the Democrat Party in general has gone literally Socialist/Communist and is actively backing illegal aliens over American Citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens, along with calling for the destruction of Israel, many people that the Democrats once owned have fled the plantation and are now supporting President Trump.
“Senate Democrats continue to jump ship as their party’s brand tanks because they prioritize criminal illegal aliens over the Americans that elected them,” Rodriguez said.
Among the Democrats considering a 2026 run to succeed Durbin in the Senate are Reps. Robin Kelly, Raja Krishnamoorthi and Lauren Underwood, as well as Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton and state Sen. Robert Peters.
I don’t know who any of these people are, but I suspect they make Lenin, Stalin and Mao look like Republicans.
Durbin is a longtime advocate for immigration reform and co-authored the DREAM (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) Act, which would provide a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children. Although the act did not pass, Durbin’s advocacy contributed to the establishment of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which provides those immigrants with temporary protection from deportation and work authorization.
This may be another reason he’s pulling the plug. For the last four years, we’ve seen a literal invasion of the United States by illegal aliens. President Trump’s plan to remove them from the United States is deeply opposed by the Democrats, but the voters are in favor of this and by a large majority. The recent actions by the Democrats have caused a number of people to say “Enough is enough” and start looking towards the Republican Party.
He also advocates for stricter gun laws and supported the Affordable Care Act, also referred to as Obamacare. Durbin voted to convict Trump in impeachment trials held by the Senate in 2020 and 2021, although Trump was acquitted in both.
The Democrats contempt for the 2nd Amendment is on full display in Illinois. Basically, you can’t own a gun there unless you’re a criminal. Obamacare has proven to be what everyone thought it would be, an expensive failure. That Durbin supported it is not surprising, especially the part that forced people to pay for it as part of being a citizen. (Basically slavery. Not surprising at all since the Democrat Party has always been the Party of Slavery in one form or another)
The Fox article in many ways reads like an obituary. Sadly, Durbin isn’t dead. Worse, he hasn’t been criminally charged with the myriad of criminal activities he has engaged in over the years including treating with enemies of the United States. Still, he’s on his way out the door. Now we need to get rid of the rest including a few RINO Dinosaurs as well. Good bye and good riddance to bad trash.
