Good day all. Late last year just before the election that restored the Greatest President of the 21st Century, Donald Trump to his rightful place in the White House, President Trump sued CBS. This was brought about when 60 Minutes basically cooked an interview with Kamala Harris to make her look less like the moron she is.

This obvious election interference, technically a “Contribution in Kind” resulted in a $20 billion dollar lawsuit against CBS and Paramount. This came at absolutely the worst possible time for Paramount. They are just about to close a deal to be taken over by Skydance. It looks like the Trump team and Paramount are coming to terms. Both have agreed to mediation apparently. However, it looks like CBS News and 60 Minutes are not happy. The producer for 60 minutes has left in a huff. Here are the details from the New York Post:
“60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens abruptly quit on Tuesday, citing a loss of journalistic independence as CBS’ parent company, Paramount Global, looks to settle a lawsuit from President Trump.
“Over the past months, it has become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it, to make independent decisions based on what was right for ‘60 Minutes,’ right for the audience,” Owens wrote in a memo to staff that was obtained by The Post.
He added: “So, having defended this show — and what we stand for — from every angle, over time with everything I could, I am stepping aside so the show can move forward.”

From what I’ve been reading, Bill Owens is only the third producer that 60 Minutes has ever had, and they’ve been on the air for almost 60 years. They’ve also had problems in the past with manufacturing stories and controversies. One of the biggest ones was the Killian documents controversy. That was the case where CBS ran a story regarding then President George H. Bush’s stint in the Air National Guard. The documents were quickly found to be really poor forgeries. It led to the infamous phrase “Fake but accurate.” In the end, it destroyed the career of Dan Rather and a few others in CBS.
Inside the halls of CBS, there are whispers that Lesley Stahl, who has reported for “60 Minutes” since 1991,” also could likely step down and finally retire.
Good riddance to bad trash.
Stahl, 83, had been at the center of Trump’s ire after she interviewed him in 2020 and claimed that the Hunter Biden Laptop story could not be verified. Trump has called for Stahl and the program to apologize, but his requests were ignored.
Back in 2020, that laptop being verified as real would have sunk the Democrats plans to get rid of President Trump. There was a full court press to bury that story, including an active conspiracy in the FBI to cover it up.
Once the news broke and people could see just how corrupt the entire Biden family is, polls showed that people who had voted for Biden would have voted for Trump instead, a third party candidate or just stayed home. All of this is, along with the pending sale to Skydance has people inside CBS running scared.
“People are terrified and the fact that Bill Owens is out means nobody is safe,” the insider said. “I think he jumped before he was fired.”

I suspect that was the case. People at the top are not happy with how things have been going within the News division.
The Post previously reported that Paramount controlling shareholder Shari Redstone, who is involved in settlement talks between Trump and her company, had been vocal about wanting Owens out.
A “livid” Redstone, whose family stands to pocket about $1.75 billion if the $8 billion merger with Skydance Media goes through, allegedly pressed McMahon to fire Owens for airing of a one-sided January report on the Gaza War.
I didn’t see any of the CBS reporting on the Israeli war against Hamas. Of course, I haven’t watched the legacy Network News channels in decades. If I want Leftist propaganda, I’ll just turn on MSNBC. (Which I don’t do either. I have a functioning brain)
Trump, meanwhile, has filed a $20 billion lawsuit accusing the program of “unlawful and illegal behavior” for what he claims was deceptive editing of a “60 Minutes” interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris last October
Unfortunately for CBS and 60 Minutes, raw footage of the Harris interview was released and it showed that, not surprisingly, Harris couldn’t string to consecutive sentences together.

“This is Trump settling scores,” a CBS insider told The Post. “He got his head.”
No actually, he got a head. He wants plenty more, like all of them.
“He was pushed out,” the person speculated, recalling that Owens had defiantly told staffers: “I will not apologize.”
That is the problem. He and the rest of these communists actually think they are in the right and that anything they do that pushes the goal of single party Democrat rule is a good thing. Still, it looks like he might not be missed all that much.
A CBS insider said that while Owens’ exit is loss for the network, he hasn’t had any wins in recent years.
Owens also will give up his role overseeing “CBS Evening News,” which one insider claimed he has “run into the ground” since it replaced anchor Norah O’Donnell and relaunched the show with co-hosts Jeff Dickerson and Maurice DuBois. The show, which relaunched in January, debuted with 5.2 million total viewers, but in recent weeks its viewership has dipped to the 3.7 million-range.
“Owens’ version of “CBS Evening News has failed” and “60 Minutes has become the headquarters of book and movie launches,” the insider said. “It is not the home of the investigative journalism of Mike Wallace anymore.”
If it ever was such a thing as investigative journalism. I’m not surprised that their news ratings have crashed. Most of the legacy media are experiencing ratings drop off. Most of this is due to their customer base dropping dead of old age.
The person said that the program has also become a “mouthpiece” for the left.
“Every allegation of bias only tilts one way and it’s always in the favor of the Democrats,” the source added.
I suspect that an agreement is in the offing to settle the suit. Once that has been cleared, then Paramount can be sold to Skydance. It will be interesting to see what Skydance does with CBS News. They might decide the time is right for a full blown fumigation. If that happens, we could see a complete rebuilding of CBS into a network worth paying attention to. That or they just kill it all off sand sell off the remains for scrap. In any case, good riddance to Bill Owens. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
