Good day all. Since President Trump was sworn in, the number of illegal border crossers has basically collapsed. Additionally, the round up and expulsion from the United States of Illegal aliens, even with the interference of the Courts and obstruction by the Democrats, continues ramp up.
Even with everything that Tom Homan, Kristi Noem and Donald Trump are doing to remove the millions of illegals in the United States, we still have a massive logistical nightmare ahead of us. This has led the Trump Administration to look into ways to get the illegal aliens to self deport. Now they’re come up with a way that may actually be cost effective. Here are the details from Fox News:
The Department of Homeland Security will front the cost of commercial flights and provide a $1,000 stipend to illegal aliens who opt to self-deport from the United States in a move DHS says will save thousands of dollars.
The department says this will be 70% cheaper for American taxpayers, as it currently costs DHS, on average, over $17,000 to arrest, detain, and deport someone. DHS told Fox News that paying for aliens to remove themselves, even with the stipend, is anticipated to cost only around $4,500 on average.
I think the actual costs for ICE and DHS to arrest and deport is probably higher, and the goal of the Progressive Liberal Democrats would be to increase the costs to the point that it becomes to expensive to remove the criminals. Still, $5K is reasonable and if we can get it down even cheaper, so much the better. Of course, many people are worried that these criminals will “Game the system.” They will collect the money but not leave.
The stipend would not be paid until it was verified that an individual self-deported. Aliens will use the CBP Home self-deportation app to access this assistance, and DHS expects self-removals, already in the thousands, to ramp up significantly with this announcement.
Personally, I won’t be happy unless the self deportations are in the millions. Still, this is a good start. There is also the advantage to the Illegals. If they leave on their own, they can apply for legal admission to the United States.
According to a news release, those who use the CBP Home app to leave the U.S. will be “deprioritized for detention and removal” if they are actually taking steps to exit the country.
“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem told Fox News in a statement.
“DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App. This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers. Download the CBP Home App TODAY and self-deport,” she continued.
That sounds like a good idea to me. The more illegals that leave on their own, the less trouble we will have chasing them down. On the flip side, it would also mean fewer Democrats being arrested for interfering with ICE and DHS. (Oh well, you can’t have everything)
Still, the move could be controversial among some critics, as some will see it as aliens being rewarded with taxpayer money for breaking the law. DHS acknowledged this concern with Fox News, and the department reinforced that this will save taxpayers significant amounts of money in the bigger picture, with the end goal of getting illegal aliens out of the country.
I also see how this could be perceived as rewarding criminals. However, considering the what the illegals had to pay to actually get into the country, (Paying coyotes and the cartels), they actually don’t make any money at all. In the mean time, if illegals are self deporting, this frees up resources to go after the more dangerous “Maryland Men” that the Democrats love so much.
In addition, the Trump administration has put a primary focus on deporting individuals with criminal convictions and charges against them on top of being in the country illegally. This includes transferring some alleged MS-13 and Tren de Aragua gang members to a prison in El Salvador, as the two groups were designated a foreign terrorist organization by Trump.
I think that in the long run this will probably be more of a help to Make America Great Again. It will save money, especially with the Democrats looking for ways to make it to expensive to deport their future slaves and voters. I think that we should at least give it a try.
