Good day all. This is breaking news. Late last night (Sunday) Another vote on ending the Schumer Shutdown was held, and this time enough Democrats crossed the aisle that cloture was achieved and the bill passed.

While there were discussions going on for the last 40 days and 40 nights of the Democrat caused fiscal fiasco, it looks like they didn’t get much of anything. The few items that were put in will need to go back to the House for a vote, but unless there is something in the bill that no one knows about, it looks like the Schumer Shutdown will be over later today or tomorrow once the bill arrives on President Trump’s desk. Here are the details I have from Fox News:
The Senate took a massive step forward on its way to reopening the government on Sunday, with a group of Senate Democrats caving and joining Republicans in their bid to pass a revamped plan to end the shutdown.

Signs that the shutdown, which entered its 40th day, could be ending became more and more clear as the day went on, particularly with the unveiling of a bipartisan package of spending bills that lawmakers hope to attach to a modified bill to reopen the government.
It’s those additions that could cause problems in the House. It’s not uncommon for the Senate Republicans to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and there is something in there that the House Republicans will reject.
Eight Senate Democrats crossed the aisle to mark the first step in the GOP’s quest to end the shutdown. Many of the lawmakers that splintered from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., were among those engaged in bipartisan talks over the last several weeks.
In other stories I’ve seen about this, many Democrats are now calling for Schumer’s ouster as Senate Minority Leader.

Among the defectors were Sens. Angus King, I-Maine, John Fetterman, D-Pa., Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., Tim Kaine, D-Va., and the number two Democrat in the Senate, Dick Durbin, D-Ill.
Fetterman isn’t a surprise since he’s about the only sane Democrat left. Jeanne Shaheen is my senator, (Damn It!), and I saw the announcement from her on Faceplant. I don’t follow her, and didn’t bother reading her press release. (I detest her and have never voted for her for any office in NH) I was amused by the comments though.

There were over 1000 of them and from the few I looked at, the general term her supporters have been using is “Sellout!” I considered going into the comments and doing a little trolling, but since these clowns are local to me, and we know how well Leftards react when confronted with logic, I decided to pass. While I do have a membership with Attorneys On Retainer, I would just as soon never need their services. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth multiple court dates.
“The question was, does the shutdown further the goal of achieving some needed support for the extension of the tax credits? Our judgment was that it will not,” King said. “It would not produce that result. And the evidence for that is almost seven weeks of fruitless attempts to make that happen.”
Since the Schumer Shutdown started, more and more people came to realize that the Democrats plan was never about Obamacare subsidies. It was about undoing the Big Beautiful Bill and restoring the Democrats graft machine.
But the solution developed over the last several days included nothing of the sort. While there were some wins in the updated continuing resolution (CR), like reversals of some of the firings of furloughed workers undertaken by the Trump administration and guaranteeing back pay for furloughed workers, there was no guaranteed victory in sight on the Obamacare issue.
That means that Senate Democrats effectively caved with little to show for their healthcare push, save for the guarantee of a vote on the subsidies from Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., which was reflected in the updated CR.
The Fox News story goes on to quote the Democrats who refused to vote in favor of the Continuing Resolution, but honestly, who cares what the Commies think? For all intents and purposes, it looks like they have finally lost. Now, as I mentioned above, this goes back to the House and unless there is some sort of a “Gotcha” in the Senate bill, it should pass and then be sent on to President Trump for his signature.
