Good day all. This is breaking news so the 72 hour rule is in effect. Last Night, (Friday January 2nd), United States military forces raided Venezuela and captured President Nicolás Maduro and flew him and his wife out of the country.

There is a lot going on of course and news is still breaking. We don’t have any details on the actual raid, causalities both American and Venezuelan or who actually carried out the raid. Maduro and his wife are, according to AG Bondi, face criminal charges. According to Newsmax:
President Donald Trump said Saturday that U.S. forces captured Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his wife during a military operation, announcing they are being transported to the United States to face criminal prosecution in what he described as a decisive blow against international drug trafficking and regional instability.
“The illegitimate dictator, Maduro was the kingpin of a vast criminal network responsible for trafficking colossal amounts of deadly and illicit drugs into the United States, as alleged in the indictment, he personally oversaw the vicious cartel known as cartel de las Olas, which flooded our nation with lethal poison, responsible for the deaths of countless Americans, the many, many Americans, hundreds of thousands over the years of Americans died because of him,” Trump said.

I have read elsewhere that Maduro was already under indictment and that this goes back several years. There is precedent for doing such an operation. The United States invaded Panama in 1989 and removed Manuel Noriega from power and threw his ass in prison for 40 years, although his sentence was reduced to 17 years for good behavior. Eventually, after a number of countries took a bite out of him, he went back to Panama and died in 2017.
Now the details of the actual raid haven’t been released. There have been some reports. Here are those details from Fox News:
The U.S. military carried out a “large-scale strike” in Venezuela early Saturday morning and took Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife into custody, President Donald Trump confirmed.
The president wrote on Truth Social that the operation was successful and Maduro and his wife were “captured and flown out of the country.” Trump said the operation was conducted with U.S. law enforcement and added that a news conference will take place at Mar-a-Lago at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
When President Trump refers to U.S. Law Enforcement, I suspect he means one or two FBI agents who basically rode along and stayed out of the way. Once the military forces, probably Delta Force, took the Maduros, the agents informed them that their new home would be in Club Fed.
At least seven explosions could be heard in Venezuela’s capital city of Caracas early Saturday morning, according to The Associated Press, and low-flying aircraft were seen flying over Caracas at about 2 a.m. local time.
Those were probably helicopters and possibly a couple of V-22 Osprey’s.
The helicopters seen flying over Caracas were part of the U.S. Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, known as the “Night Stalkers.”
Those are some of the best helicopter pilots in the world. As I understand it, they tend to fly so low that the ground crews have mounted tires on the helicopters so they can drive along without damaging the skids.
The Venezuelan government said in a statement that “the civilian and military localities of the city of Caracas, capital of the Republic, and the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira” were impacted by the attack.
I suspect the Air Force or the Navy dropped a few “Party Favors” on a few locations to keep what passes for the Venezuelan military occupied, probably in the bathroom changing their shorts. I also won’t be at all shocked if the Drug Cartels may have some senior employment positions suddenly open up.
Since the raid and the news that Maduro was in handcuffs in the brig of an American warship, the people of Venezuela have been making their feelings known. Here is a report on that from Newsmax:
Retired Air Force Gen. Blaine Holt said Venezuelans are “celebrating in the streets by the hundreds of thousands” following the capture of President Nicolas Maduro, arguing the moment signals a potential turning point that Venezuelans themselves, not U.S. troops, will shape.
Speaking Saturday on Newsmax’s “America Right Now,” Holt said the United States is unlikely to deploy an invasion or stability force in Venezuela, predicting instead that citizens will “take the country into their own hands” and determine their own political outcome in the wake of Maduro’s detention.
Which is the way it should be. I have little doubt that the Venezuelan Opposition leader, and Nobel Prize winner María Corina Machado is going to play a central role in restoring Venezuela to it’s rightful place as a free and prosperous nation. However, there is a lot of rot that needs to be cut away and President Trump has said the United States is going run Venezuela until a proper transition can take place.
Now in the olden days, this meant that the United States was going to take control of the country until we could arrange a puppet leader to be the president. However, those days are long gone as they should be. Despite what a lot of idiots say, President Trump does not want to rule the world.
Yes, he would like to buy Greenland, and I suspect that if the province of Alberta, Canada decides to secede, he would happily invite them to join up with the United States. However, he has no stomach for being a true imperialist. (That’s more along the lines of the Europeans)
However, President Trump has said that the United States will run Venezuela until a transition can take place. Here are those details from Newsmax:
The United States will remain and “run” Venezuela until a “proper transition” can take place with its government, President Donald Trump said in his news conference Saturday, following the overnight strikes on Venezuela and the arrests of President Nicholas Maduro and his wife.
“We’re there now, but we’re going to stay until such time as the proper transition can take place, so we’re going to stay until such time as we’re going to run it essentially,” Trump said.

There is more in the story, mostly involving getting the oil production back up to snuff and getting the Venezuelan economy going again. I really don’t see the U.S. military being there to any great extent other then to help the honest people in Venezuela get things back under control. Honestly, when it comes to Nation Building, the United States sucks pretty bad at it. We shall see what the plans are in the coming days. In the mean time, it looks like the Venezuelans are in a pretty good mood right now. Here are those details from Newsmax:
Retired Air Force Gen. Blaine Holt said Venezuelans are “celebrating in the streets by the hundreds of thousands” following the capture of President Nicolas Maduro, arguing the moment signals a potential turning point that Venezuelans themselves, not U.S. troops, will shape.
Which is the way it should be. I can see a small presence, mostly to help maintain law and order until a proper law enforcement system is trained back up. However, when it comes to the actual running of the country, the United States should just stand back and let the people take care of things. All we should do is offer suggestions, if asked, and help with getting the basic infrastructure back online.
In the mean time, right on schedule, the usual idiots, Democrats mostly, decided now was a great time to once again show the country just how stupid they are. Here are a few of those details from Fox News legal commentator Jonathan Turley:
Democratic members quickly denounced the operation as unlawful. They may want to review past cases, particularly the decision related to the Noriega prosecution after his capture by the administration of President George H.W. Bush.
“Without authorization from Congress, and with the vast majority of Americans opposed to military action, Trump just launched an unjustified, illegal strike on Venezuela. He says we don’t have enough money for healthcare for Americans—but somehow we have unlimited funds for war?” wrote Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass.

I’m sure McGovern speaks for all the Democrat coke addicts. However, like every Democrat in Congress, (and a few RINO’s), he’s wrong.
Trump does not need congressional approval for this type of operation. Presidents, including Democratic presidents, have launched lethal attacks regularly against individuals. President Barack Obama killed an American citizen under this “kill list” policy. If Obama can vaporize an American citizen without even a criminal charge, Trump can capture a foreign citizen with a pending criminal indictment without prior congressional approval.
Yes, but that was “The Anointed One” Barack Obama. He could do no wrong and anything he did was good and true and in the best interests of the Democrat Party United States. Of course Donald Trump can’t do anything like enforce the laws and the Constitution. Why that would be undemocratic! Just ask any Democrat.

Apparently, The Trump Administration didn’t notify congress, especially the Democrat leadership. This was probably done to maintain operational security. Without question, if the Democrats had been informed, they wold have been on the phone to their coke supplier, Maduro, to warn him. Here are a few responses according to CBS News:
Democrat lawmakers criticized the Trump administration for acting unilaterally.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, a Democrat from New York, said Maduro is a “criminal and authoritarian dictator who has oppressed the people of Venezuela for years,” but that Mr. Trump “has the constitutional responsibility to follow the law and protect democratic norms in the United States.”

First, without question, this was run past any number of experts in the laws that wold be applicable. Second, considering just how corrupt the Democrat Party is, who are they to talk about the law? They haven’t bothered to uphold it in decades unless it suited their purposes.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, also from New York, echoed Jeffries’ sentiment by calling Maduro “an illegitimate dictator” but saying that “launching military action without congressional authorization and without a credible plan for what comes next is reckless.”

I suspect they do have a plan and a fairly detailed one. That plan might actually involve helping the Venezuelan people enforce their laws that were in place prior to the Chavez and Maduro dictatorships. There are certainly a number of qualified people in the opposition who can take control. Also, Venezuela is not Iraq or Afghanistan.
These are basically good, hardworking people, not a bunch of inbred goat molesting pedophiles. Prior to Chavez, they were actually doing pretty well for themselves and they deserve every opportunity to pick themselves up and rebuild their country.
Rep. Adam Smith, the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, told CBS News 24/7 that “there’s no evidence whatsoever this makes America safer.”
“This doesn’t seem to have much to do with drugs,” Smith said, and to him, “it seems what this is about is Trump wants Venezuela’s oil.”
Could someone inform this idiot just who was allowing the drug cartels to ship product through their ports? As for the oil, That oil is not known as high quality crude. It requires specialized refineries to handle it. Also, production is way down. Finally, where do you think most of the money that was being generated was going? It wasn’t to fixing the infrastructure, building schools paying for teachers, hiring doctors or buying medicine. Hopefully, the U.S. government can claw it back from Maduro’s bank accounts and turn it over to the Venezuelan treasury.
Sen. Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, called the operation an “unauthorized military attack” and a “sickening return to a day when the United States asserted the right to dominate the internal political affairs of all nations in the Western Hemisphere.”

Finally, we have the new Party General Secretary, I mean mayor of New York.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who took office on Thursday, issued a statement saying “unilaterally attacking a sovereign nation is an act of war and a violation of federal and international law.”
“This blatant pursuit of regime change doesn’t just affect those abroad, it directly impacts New Yorkers, including tens of thousands of Venezuelans who call this city home,” Mamdani said. “My focus is their safety and the safety of every New Yorker, and my administration will continue to monitor the situation and issue relevant guidance.”

Mamdani is already showing what a complete and utter hosehead he is. He’s already threatened to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and send him to the Hague. As to his monitoring the situation and issuing relevant guidance?
As I said, this is early and there is a lot we flat out don’t know yet. One thing that we need to remember is that President Trump is not an incompetent corrupt Democrat, and he isn’t a Bush/Cheney Transnational globalist Neocon. President Trump has one goal and that is to Make America Great Again. If getting rid of a dictator and helping the Venezuelan people help themselves helps with this goal, then lets wait and see what he has planned. Stay tuned, without question there is going to be more news down the road.

Some of the “tens of thousands of Venezuelans who call this city home”

ref: “”As I understand it, they tend to fly so low that the ground crews have mounted tires on the helicopters so they can drive along without damaging the skids.””
the only birds that the Night Stalkers fly which would need wheels attached to the skids would be the MH-6M and AH-6M “Little Birds” of the Light Assault and Light Attack Companies of the 1st Battalion, 160th SOAR(A), as all of the other birds come factory supplied with wheels.
and: “”As for the oil, That oil is not known as high quality crude. It requires specialized refineries to handle it.””
you should also mention where the best refineries able to handle the thick, sour crude from Venezuela are located.
I thought about it, but why give the commies in NYC any more blanks? 😀
As for the bit about the wheels? I found your humor bone lying on the floor. It must have slipped out. 😀
