Hosting Matters account upgrade

Good morning all, this is the Angry Systems Administrator with a bit of news from the Anger Central Data Center. Most of you don’t know that Anger Central doesn’t host its own servers. The reason is cost.

In order to run a full data center we would need to buy or lease building space, get a generator, fire suppression systems, multiple internet connections, and backup systems. All this before we even looked at server hardware.

In other words, $10’s of thousands of dollars in start up costs. I think we made $0.42 from the ads we run last month. In other words, it isn’t cost effective for us to run our own network.

Instead we host Anger Central on a shared server run by a company called Hosting Matters. We moved over to them when we started having problems with our previous hosting service, Fly By Night Internet.

We found Hosting Matters when one of our favorite sites, The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, had a Hosting Matters badge on their main page. I did the technical checks on the service and the Angry ~~Beancounter~~ Accountant looked into costs. They were a lot better than the current services we had so we moved over there a few years ago, and we’ve had no regrets about it.

Recently, Hosting Matters started running a special. $11/mo for unlimited disk space and bandwidth. I saw this and went “Hmmm.” We’ve been using a lower level account for the simple reason we didn’t need anything else. However, this month we actually used more than half our allotted bandwidth and I’ve always been a bit concerned about space issues.

I talked it over with the Angry Accountant and the ~~Time Waster in Charge~~ Angry Webmaster and after speaking with the people at Hosting Matters, we decided to upgrade the account.

So what does this mean for you?

Pretty much nothing. You will see the same levels of service, (BWAHAHAHAHA), that you’ve always seen from Anger Central. However we now can do more on the back end then we could in the past.

So, in conclusion, if you are looking for a reasonably priced internet web site provider, Anger Central heartily recommends Hosting Matters. The ~~Buffoon~~ Angry Webmaster recommended the company to someone in his Real World Job and that person was very satisfied. We hope you will be too.
