Greetings good people, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. You may have noticed some time outs, 503 errors and general sluggishness this morning. It appears our tiny little blog was being slammed with visitors thanks to a link from Instapundit posted by Sarah Hoyt, a noted Baen author.
When I logged in this morning to check the system, I was surprised to see are traffic going through the roof. I quick check and I found the reason why. The MIC, (Moron In Charge), had published a post regarding the French Government asking, (Demanding?), that the United States Department of Justice help them in their persecution of Elon Musk.
That post, DoJ Tells France to pound sand regarding Elon Musk, apparently caught the attention of Ms. Hoyt and she posted the link on Instapundit. Since Ms. Hoyt has a lot of fans, people saw this, read the title and decided that it might be a story worth reading.
Oh you silly people. While celebrating Elon Musk’s saving of Free Speech on the Internet is always worthy, and pounding on the French is a pleasant past time, especially if you’re a traditional Englishman, our system wasn’t set up to handle the load we were seeing.
I had to make a few calls and get our resources scaled up to handle the load. Fortunately, things have stabilized and I’m not seeing the CPU parked at 100% any longer.
