Good morning, This is the Angry Systems Administrator sans coffee, so please bear with me. As I reported yesterday there was an outage with our site. According to our hosting service, Hosting Matters, there was a runaway process that was affecting all sites on that server.
Last night the engineers decided to move Angry.net and a few other sites not connected with Anger Central to another server. The results have been dramatic. The load and response times have gone down dramatically.
Additionally, when you cut and past the link to a posting into either Facebook or Google+, it actually loads. For the last few months I’ve been trying to track down what was causing this site to be sluggish. I’ve been switching plugins off and on or flat out deleting them.
The google+ 1 button never worked at all. Now it’s working the way it should. 🙂
One of the problems with a hosted solution is I don’t have access to the actual server. I have to rely on the technical staff to monitor and fix any issues that come up. On the other hand, I don’t have to deal with any of the technical issues that come up either.
In the case of Angry.net and the Blog, my first thoughts were something we had loaded in under the hood, so that was where I started looking. I never considered that it might be a hardware or Operating system issue.
I would like to thank the technicians at Hosting Matters for ending my possible need for a toupee in the future. 😉
