Greetings all. As you should know by now, a pair of “women” apparently announced that Herman Cain had harassed them sometime in 1999. The web site Politico.com last week blew forth with the announcement that Mr. Cain had settled a lawsuit regarding the sexual harassment of two women at NRA, (National Restaurant Association). There are a number of problems with this story.
First, it was all anonymous sources. The women who made the charges didn’t come forward and only spoke through lawyers. The second problem was that their witnesses also refused to be listed as named sources in the story. As more and more details came out, the whole thing began to look like a hit piece on Herman Cain.
To begin with, it has since come out that it wasn’t Cain who was sued, but the NRA. On legal documents that have come out, he didn’t sign off on any settlements.
From Protein Wisdom:
We learned today from the LAT that, as many of us had been speculating — and I as spent last evening explaining to one painfully obtuse Perry supporter — Cain was not a party to the agreement and would not have ever known of any of the charges leveled against him once he recused himself.
To this day, Cain has not been made privy to what he’s alleged to have done, which is why it’s been very difficult for him to try to answer questions. His interview on Greta, therefore, was his answering what he could as honestly as he could based on what he knew.
This may be one of the reasons that Mr. Cain has been so fumble-footed over this whole thing. It’s damned hard to defend yourself when you don’t even know what you’ve been accused of.
The two bimbos, and that’s what I’m going to call them, received a good sized severance package. This is different from a legal settlement. In my opinion, these two decided to go for a payday of some sort and rather than fight it out in court, the NRA chose to give in to their extortion and paid them to go away.
It may still come out that Cain was accused of doing something remarkably untoward. And perhaps he did — though the testimony of those who’ve known and work with him has been near uniformly supportive, and has the added advantage of coming with names attached. But as of now, we CONTINUE to have nothing but unnamed sources, anonymous witnesses, ludicrous talk show hosts, and not a speck of any kind of evidence. And that’s because — though none of the Politico reporters ever bothered to answer a single one of my questions — it is now revealed that the reporters never spoke to the women, never saw any documents, and knew only that, because the paperwork was sealed, Herman Cain would not be able to defend himself.
The last bit from Protein wisdom is slightly out of date. The NRA has given their consent to the bimbos to come out and publicly talk about what allegedly happened.
From News4Jax.com
Dawn Sweeney, the current head of the association, issued a statement confirming that in July 1999, Bennett’s client “filed a formal internal complaint, in accordance with the association’s existing policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment.”
Cain, she noted, “disputed the allegations in the complaint.”
Sweeney said the association is prepared to fully release Bennett’s client from her confidentiality agreement in the event she wants to disclose additional details.
Oh good! We can finally confront one of Herman Cain’s accusers and find out just what happened, if anything. Oh wait, it appears that isn’t going to happen. In a statement released by attorney Joel Bennett:
Bennett said his client, married for 26 years, will not reveal her identity because “she and her husband see no value in revisiting this matter now nor in discussing the matter any further publicly or privately.”
Yeah, right. She’s done what she set out to do, smear someone with no opportunity to confront her.
Now you know why I’m calling these ”women” bimbos. Mr. Cain may have said something in jest, and these humorless cows decided they were going to be offended by it and rather than confront Cain, went screaming for the lawyers.
Ever since the “High tech lynching of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas 20 years ago, women have been using false claims of harassment to basically ruin people and extort money from companies. Just like those women who scream rape when they decide they shouldn’t have been sleeping around, women who take offense at anything a man might say or do hurt those who are actually harassed.
Yes, I do believe there are men who harass women and I will be the first to club them like baby seals. However, those that level these charges with no basis in fact need to be slammed just as hard as those who actually do harass women.
Men are starting to fight back against these charges. Because of the stigma attached to being accused of harassment, if they don’t, they will find themselves ruined. You are now seeing men who are accused of this in a corporate environment who didn’t do anything turning around and unleashing their own lawyers against these same companies as well as their accusers. As far as they’re concerned, they have nothing to lose and might as well go down swinging.
I personally know of such a case. The man was accused of sexual harassment and was allowed to resign. About a month later it came out that the accusations were demonstrably false and in fact had been cooked up by a group of people who didn’t like him. The people involved were fired and the company found its self in major trouble. The accused man could have sued and would have won on a number of counts. Instead he accepted their apology and they gave him a corporate recommendation when he went for another job with a different company. He’s now a senior director there.
And for the due diligence, I disliked him intensely. When he was let go I was very happy. When I found out what the reasons were I was actually shocked. I knew this was a complete farce. While I wanted him gone, I wanted him out for real reasons like incompetence, not a bogus charge like he was hit with.
The good news is, most people who support Herman Cain still are. It looks like that people are fed up with the anonymous accusations and as the details come out, are beginning to think as I do, that this whole thing was a set up from the very beginning. Not the political stuff, but the charges against Mr. Cain. Greedy women who saw a chance at some easy money.
We can also thank Bill Clinton. There were several women who came forward and accused him of far worse things, up to and including rape. The Main Stream Media did it’s level best to cover up the accusations and destroy the accusers. Unlike Herman Cain’s accusers, Clinton’s came forward and made their accusation public and identified themselves. This, along with the Lewinsky scandal, tend to cause people to believe Clinton’s accusers.
Now I’ve said before that I haven’t decided who I’m voting for, as long as it’s the Not Romney candidate. I like Herman Cain but I have issues with his 9-9-9 tax plan. Still, I want to see this primary season decided on the issues like the 9-9-9 plan, not on some greedy bimbo trying to screw someone over for her own personal gain.
