Why Anger Central was blacked out yesterday

Good day all. You may have noticed that the Main site for Anger Central was blocked out yesterday, and that the Blog has a big red sign saying that the content was blocked under the Authority of House Resolution 3261, (SOPA) and Senate 968, (PIPA).

I decided yesterday morning to join in the protests regarding SOPA, ((Stop Online Piracy)) and PIPA. ((Protect IP Act)) I haven’t written much about these bills due to lack of time and the fact that so many others far better schooled in this issue WERE writing about it.

These bills are being pushed by Hollywood in order to prop up their failed business model. They have been out and out bribing members of Congress, (These are called “Campaign Contributions), and lying through their teeth of the alleged damage being done by “internet pirates.”

What these bills will do if enacted is break the DNS system, ((Domain Name System)) and give the government the ability to shut down any web site they don’t like. (Granted, it’s a bit more complicated, but that’s it in a nutshell)

In the House of Representatives, SOPA is being pushed hard by Representative Lamar Smith. (R-TX) He has been told over and over again that this will wreck the internet, but this lying piece of bought and paid for dog droppings will not listen. He intends to ram this through and earn his 30 pieces of silver no matter what kind of damage it does.

In the Senate the bill was being pushed by freshman Senator Marco Rubio, but he has since withdrawn all support for it. I hope he did this because he came to understand just how damaging this wold be to the internet and free speech. However, the Clown Prince of the Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said he intend to bring this to the floor for a vote.

What we are seeing here is the media moguls trying to roll back technology and return to the pre-Internet days. They hate what is happening and that they will have to adapt their businesses or fail. Rather than do that, they are buying members of Congress and trying to get them to pass a law that allows them to act as judge, jury and executioners to any web site they don’t like.

The list of people and companies coming out against these bills is growing by leaps and bounds. It includes people such as Mythbusters Adam Savage, Google, Wikipedia, (Which blacked out their site for the entire day), Craig’s list, (Which also blacked out their site, but provided a way in after waiting a minute) ((These companies and Anger Central took a financial hit today. I expect to see zero’s on our income tomorrow)) and most of silicon valley. Many artists, those who actually create music, books, movies, etc. are against this and also against the RIAA and MPAA. Considering how they have been screwed over by Big Media, this isn’t surprising.

Recently, artists have been cutting their ties to the recording companies and posting their works on the internet. They have been trying any number of ideas to make money, and some have been quite successful. In a few instances, small electronic game companies have found that people who pirated their products came back and actually bought the games. Authors are finding out that people who have seen “pirated” copies of their books came back and bought them. (Either e-books or hard copy)

I have done this myself. I heard about a singer in a book. I had never heard her work since she was a niche artist. I found one of her albums and downloaded it. I liked it so much I bought the CD and also ordered all her CD’s as well. The term for this is “Try before you buy.”

The two bills have allegedly been “delayed pending changes”, but people like Lamer Smith have no intention of listening to the voters who have been melting the phone lines on capitol hill.

While I nominally support republicans, Lamer Smith is one of the few “Republicans” I want gone from office and I don’t care who takes his place. I don’t know if he has a primary challenger, but he should and he should have an opponent in the general. (I think he may have, but I’m not sure)

Lamer Smith and Dingy Harry Reid are just two of the reasons this country is in such deep trouble. They need to go away and go away soon.

I want to thank you for putting up with this yesterday. I also want you to hold your representative’s feet to the fire no matter which party he or she is with.

Thank you
