Obomney barely wins Maine

Good afternoon, Maine just held it’s caucus yesterday and Mittens Obomney won, breaking Santorum’s winning streak.

Big whoop.

Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich didn’t campaign in Maine, and didn’t have that much of an infrastructure on the ground. Crazy Uncle Ron Paul did campaign and almost defeated “His Inevitableness.” In fact, once again the Not Obomney vote outweighed the Obomney vote by a wide margin.

Mitt Romney 2,190 39.2%
Ron Paul 1,996 35.7%
Rick Santorum 9891 7.7%
Newt Gingrich 349 6.2%
Other 611 .1%

But never fear! Mittens won the CPAC straw poll with a whopping 38%! WooHoo!

And therein lies the rub. Even at CPAC, with Ann Coulter performing fellatio ((Fellatio explained, NSFW)) on anyone who would vote for Obomney, he still couldn’t top 40%, and Ron Paul didn’t put in an appearance. Since he wasn’t there, the Ronbots didn’t bother to rig the vote like the last two times. ((Ron Paul wins CPAC straw poll in 2010 & 2011))

Maine is a New England state and it would be a major surprise for Obomney to lose up here. Still, Obomney hasn’t yet broken 50% in any primary or Caucus. Now the western states are queuing up for their turn and generally they do not trust Mittens Obomney. The see him as a Massachusetts RINO who doesn’t represent them. They were burned in their support for Scott Brown, and now they have other choices.

Me, I’m still hoping for a brokered convention. 🙂

    Jonathon,

What’s with the hatin’ on Romney?  That he’s not a classic fiscal conservative Federalist?  Okay.  But then, neither is any of the other guys in the running.  Newt and Santorum are absolutely unelectable.  Nor Laup is good for but comic relief.  So, it comes down to… Mitt.  While he’s not perfect he’s better than Obama.  AND with Mitt we’ve at least a chance for better choices when it comes to new Supremes, new Federal Benchers, and how the Fed is handled overall.

Do you really wanna hand this election to Team Obama?

    •  Short answer, Romneycare.
Slightly less short answer, I’ve been watching him for years in Massachusetts. The nearest comparison would be Arlen Specter, another politician who only cared about himself.

I still prefer none of the above at this moment
