The Stupid Criminal of the year is…

Good morning all. I was going through the news and saw this gem. Fighters Intercept Cessna Approaching Air Force One. Now, it isn’t unknown for a private plane to stray into restricted airspace. When this happens, the Air Force sends up some fighters and escort the private plane to the nearest airport.

However, this time, it was a little different. From the ABC News story on Yahoo:

SAN FRANCISCO – As Air Force One sat on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport this morning, the North American Aerospace Defense Command scrambled two F-16 fighter jets to intercept a small private plane that had invaded the airspace.

As I said above, this is not uncommon. There are a number of reasons for a private pilot to wander into restricted airspace, usually due to a really bad sense of direction. Once the plane landed the fun began.

Agents interviewed the pilots before they were turned over to the Long Beach Police Department and arrested, an official said.

The pilots were arrested? Why? Were they Al Qaeda terrorists? Iranian secret agents? Umm, no.

“We determined the incursion of restricted airspace was of no protective interest,” said Leary. In other words, no intended threat to the president.

But the pilot was in possession of narcotics, the Secret Service said.

Oops!!

One law enforcement source told ABC the plane was carrying 40 pounds of marijuana. Officials with the Long Beach Police Department did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request to confirm the type or quantity of the drugs.

Never mind smuggling drugs into the country, (Although these mental midgets might have been simply transporting internally), flying a plane loaded with pot near Air Force One is the height stupidity. You would think that the morons would make sure they had read all the NOTAM’s ((Notices To AirMen)) along their route. I’m sure they would have seen the alert NOT TO FLY NEAR AIR FORCE ONE!!

Well, these idiots will soon be enjoying a long rest in a nice federal prison. I can see it now.

“So what did you do?”

“I was flying a load of pot somewhere.”

“So How did they get you?”

“I didn’t read the notices and flew to close to Air Force One. A pair of fighters forced me to land and they found the pot.”

“You dumbass!”
