Good day all, AWM here. I was listening to Rush Limbaugh and he said something that just struck me as both accurate and amusing. He compared Media Matters to jock itch.
Now for those of you who aren’t aware of Media Matters of America, this is a hard left wing group dedicated to destroying anyone who opposes their view of the world. They operate as a tax exempt non-profit 501(c)(3) organization ((What is a 501(c)(3) organization?)) under IRS tax law. Accordingly, they aren’t supposed to engage in partisan politics.
The organization was founded and is run by one David Brock in 2004 as a liberal counterweight to “conservative misinformation” in the press, Media Matters has in less than a decade become a powerful player in Democratic politics. ((From the Daily Caller))
However, their have been a number of questions regarding Media Matters and what appears to be an abuse of its tax exempt status. Recently the Daily Caller did a detailed report on David Brock and Media Matters. It’s lengthy and very well sourced. It shows a few things such as Brock’s paranoia, how he paid off a former “Boyfriend” over $800,000.00 in an apparent extortion plot that after he was threatened with “damaging information involving the organization’s donors and the IRS.” ((The Blaze))
Lately, Media Matters has been working to suppress the speech of conservative commentators, especially radio commentators such as Rush Limbaugh. Recently Rush mad a rather rash statement regarding Sandra Fluke’s charge that it costs her $3000 to get birth control. ((Rush Limbaugh vs the Slut)) Brock and Media Matters began a full court press to have Rush taken off the air. They began a boycott of his advertisers and started calling many of them even though they actually didn’t advertise on the show. (Local ads run during the station breaks. Rush receives no money from these ads) Several big name advertisers as well as a few long term ones bailed on Rush. A couple of weeks later a few of them tried to come back but Rush’s company said “No Thanks.”
Since the Media Matters plot to suppress Rush’s free speech rights has failed miserably, Brock has doubled down with a $100,000 media buy. The Washington Times has a few details on this. In a story by Peter Bella:
CHICAGO, March 22, 2012—Media Matters for America (MMfA) is launching a national radio attack ad campaign against Rush Limbaugh. They reportedly are spending $100,000.00 to buy radio advertising in markets where Limbaugh’s show may be vulnerable.
Media Matters is not a journalistic or media entity. They are not media watchdogs either. Watching denotes just that, watching. MMfA describes their role as “progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. Media.” They are pseudo-journalists. They are pretenders.
Rush had his own words for Media Matters this afternoon. He said that Media Matters is like Jock Itch. Rush didn’t back off. He has had it with Media Matters and he has the resources to fight back. Now, what exactly is “Jock Itch?”
Tinea cruris, also known as crotch itch, crotch rot, Dhobie itch, eczema marginatum, gym itch, jock itch, and ringworm of the groin in American English is a dermatophyte fungal infection of the groin region in either sex, though more often seen in males. In the German Sprachraum this condition is called Tinea inguinalis (from Latin inguen = groin) whereas Tinea cruris is used for a dermatophytosis of the lower leg (Latin crus).
I won’t show the pictures. You can go off to Wikipedia and look at them yourselves. So, Davidf Brock and Media Matters are nothing more than a fungal infection? That sounds just about right to me. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to have an audit of their tax status until the current regime administration is sent packing. They have started using the IRS in a Nixonian ((Definition of Nixonian)) manner to go after anyone criticizing Obama and his agenda.
So, I wonder how long it will take Brock to fly off the handle over Rush’s latest talking point? Considering Brock’s paranoia, he’ll probably accuse Rush Limbaugh of engaging in Biological warfare. Sucks to be Brock, doesn’t it?
