Well that pack of greedy thugs called the Chicago Teachers Union has gone on strike for obscenely higher pay and benefits. I first commented on this last month when the news came out that the union was making threats about walking out.
Last night, these lazy incompetent clowns went on strike. Here’s a report from the Chicago Sun Times:
Chicago teachers began walking the picket line for the first time in 25 years Monday morning at the nation’s third largest school system, leaving parents to scramble for alternatives for their children.
I’m sure the parents are in full solidarity with the not unreasonable actions forced on them by the Emanuel Administration. NOT!
Mayor Rahm Emanuel quickly blasted the strike announcement as “a strike of choice.” He repeatedly declared Sunday night: “My team is available now.” He is expected to hold a news conference Monday morning to turn up the heat more on the union and had already cancelled a fund-raising appearance later in the day.
Mayor Emanuel, screw the union. It’s time to break them. Pity others don’t feel that way in the Windy City.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) urged both sides back to the negotiating table.
Durbin ((Senator Richard Durbin)) is a well known leftist and supporter of enemies of the United States. He will come down on the side of the union of course. They have donated generously bribed Durbin over the years and expect him to do their bidding. The parents? Who gives a damn about them ((Dump Durban The Turbin))?
Not all parents think the Union is wrong. Here is one complete moron who thinks the union is right.
Martina Watts, 38, was one of the parents dropping her kids off at Hefferan Elementary in Garfield Park as teachers marched up and down chanting, “What’s disgusting? Union busting!”
Obviously, this woman is a victim graduate of the union controlled Chicago school system.
Watts said the strike had messed her day up and forced her to stay away from her temporary job as a machinist so that she could pick up her daughter, Trinity, and son, Jayvon, when the school closes early at 12:30 p.m
This woman is a machinist, which is a skilled job, and she is only working at a temp job? I wonder if she understands why she can’t find a full time job in her field?
Watts blamed the mayor, not the teachers.
“The teachers are standing up for what they believe in, and I have to respect that,” she said. “I don’t want my children to be taught in classes that are too big or by teachers who aren’t being paid enough.”
Watts said she was going home to get changed, then “I’m coming back to join the teachers on the picket line to show my support,” she said.
“This would never have happened under Mayor Daley,” she added. “He would have got everyone around the table and made a deal that was good for the teachers, the parents and the kids.”
No, Daley would have simply given them pretty much what they wanted and jacked the taxes higher to pay for it all. However, people like this idiot are really to stupid to think for themselves. In what passes for their minds, whatever the Union wants, the Union should have. Of course, I don’t think she’s considered what will happen when the company she’s working for on contract lets her go and either closes or moves to a state with a better tax climate.
Chicago is a union owned town. It’s also on the cusp of complete economic collapse due to all the unions and their demands. Companies no longer move to Chicago and these days are looking to get out of the city as well as the state. Did you know that a number of conventions that used to go to Chicago have moved to other venues? Do you know why? It’s simple really. Costs. If I was working to set up a convention and tried to do some work like move a table, Union thugs would start screaming at you, (as well as making threats). If you need some electrical work done, it WILL be a Union electrician at 5 times the cost of hiring a contractor, and you will pay it…or else.
Chicago could make a stand and actively break this union. That would start a cascade effect and possibly, with a little luck, save the city from becoming another Detroit. Of course, that would mean having an honest government, something Chicago hasn’t had for almost a century. If this strike goes on for to long, it’s going to get ugly.
Tracy Baldwin, who has a 6-year-old at Coonley School, said she thinks several parents had accepted the strike as inevitable. She said she thinks their frustration will really boil over if the strike lasts longer than a couple of days.
“I think it’s going to divide our city,” Baldwin said, “and it’s going to get ugly.”
Considering the thug running this union, I see a good chance of violence if they don’t get their way. If the do get their way, you can kiss the charter schools, which aren’t covered by the strike, good bye. Within a few years, you can kiss Chicago good bye as well.
So, what’s your opinion? Will the city cave or will the union give up first?
