And the Democrats start salivating. Good day all. I think we can let others talk about King Putt’s policy of appeasement to Islam for a while. Now, we have something of a controversy to talk about. A video came out showing Romney saying that 47% of the American voters are dependent on the Government. The Democrats promptly went hog wild with that statement saying it shows Romney is “Out of touch.”
The statement was made during a private reception with donors and the video was taken and handed to Mother Jones magazine. (Not noted for their conservative views) Rather than try and walk this back, it looks like Romney is going to run with it instead. Here are a few details from Fox News:
Mitt Romney is sticking by his comments captured in a video at a fundraiser earlier this year in which he told donors that President Obama’s base supporters are “reliant on government,” don’t pay taxes and “believe they are victims.”
Romney was probably referring to the numbers of people now on some form of government welfare. Most of them will vote for Obama to keep themselves on the federal gravy train. As soon as the video came out, the Democrats promptly attacked. From the New York Slimes Times:
In one clip, Mr. Romney describes how his campaign would not try to appeal to “47 percent of the people” who will vote for Mr. Obama “no matter what.” They are, he says, “dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them.”
He says those people “pay no income tax,” and “so our message of low taxes doesn’t connect.” Mr. Romney adds: “My job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
Romney is correct of course. His numbers may be off a bit, (I think it’s closer to about 30%. The other 17% probably want to get off welfare), but in general you have a large class of leeches who think society owes them a living. This is the same crowd that expected the government to do everything for them when Katrina hit New Orleans. When the government didn’t show up, rather than make their own way to safety, they stayed where they were and mostly drowned.
Democrats quickly condemned the remarks as insensitive, and Mr. Obama’s campaign accused Mr. Romney of having “disdainfully written off half the nation.”
I really hate to break it to the Democrats, (No I don’t. I can’t wait to break it to them), but the other 53% of the voters, the ones who have been forced by you socialist totalitarians to pay for your serfs, have had it. Speaking as a taxpayer, I’ve reached the point of “Let the lazy bastards starve in the gutter!” I’m not alone in that way of thinking. About 15-20 years ago a new phrase was coined regarding all these welfare programs the taxpayers were being forced to fund. The phrase is “Compassion fatigue.” What it meant was the taxpayers had reached end of their rope with all the demands to support people who had nothing wrong with them and were quite capable of getting a job and working. Romney, without realizing it, simply stated what most people think. That the average person getting a government check is just a lazy good for nothing bum.
As I mentioned above, most people would have expected Governor Romney to try and walk this back. Guess what? He isn’t. More from Fox News:
Mitt Romney is sticking by his comments captured in a video at a fundraiser earlier this year in which he told donors that President Obama’s base supporters are “reliant on government,” don’t pay taxes and “believe they are victims.”
The Republican presidential nominee assembled a brief and to-the-point press conference Monday night to address the tape, which had been posted online by liberal magazine Mother Jones.
Romney, while saying his phrasing was not ideal, stood by the premise of his remarks, which reportedly came from a fundraiser in Florida.
“It’s not elegantly stated, let me put it that way. I was speaking off the cuff in response to a question,” Romney said, adding he wants to help “all Americans.”
But he continued: “It’s a message which I am going to carry and continue to carry, which is that the president’s approach is attractive to people who are not paying taxes because frankly my discussion about lowering taxes isn’t as attractive to them. Therefore I’m not likely to draw them into my campaign as effectively as those in the middle.”
OK, who is this imposter and what have you done with that squishy, wishy-washy Republican candidate? This is NOT what we have come to expect from Governor “Play it safe” Romney. One of the major issues confronting Romney is how much the conservative base really would prefer someone else. Romney’s habit of spewing a lot of hot air and not sticking to any principles has made the Republican base cringe.
Now, it looks like Romney is going to keep at this meme and not try to pull it back. I, for one, find this rather refreshing. It hits the one major issue that can and will sing this country. If the takers continue to demand more and more from the producers, eventually the producers will simply give up and quit. The phrase for this is “Going Galt” after a character ((Who is John Galt?)) in the Ayn Rand ((Ayn Rand)) novel, Atlas Shrugged ((About Atlas Shrugged)). (FYI, I’ve never read that book) Romney may have tapped into something that people will like. The alternative is more Obamanomics.
So, the decision is yours. If you prefer being a slave of the Democrats, vote for Obama and the other moonbats. They will happily put the shackles on. If you believe in freedom, self reliance and making a better life for yourself and your family, (And by extension, others), vote for Romney and the Republicans. The Fate of the nation is in your hands.
Remember in November!
