Another Obama Green company going under

Good day all, This is almost a standing headline. Once again, another company touted by Der Fubar is going under. In this case, it’s a company named LG Chem is a Korean company that built a Hybrid battery manufacturing plant in Holland, Michigan. Just one small problem. In two years, not one single battery has been made n that plant.

Now, they are furloughing all the workers because the demand for these batteries has dried up. Now you may be asking, what does Obama have to do with this one? Simple really. This plant was built with $150 Million dollars of taxpayer money. Here are the gory details from Fox News:

President Obama touted it in 2010 as evidence “manufacturing jobs are coming back to the United States,” but two years later, a Michigan hybrid battery plant built with $150 million in taxpayer funds is putting workers on furlough before a single battery has been produced.

Workers at the Compact Power manufacturing facilities in Holland, Mich., run by LG Chem, have been placed on rotating furloughs, working only three weeks per month based on lack of demand for lithium-ion cells.

The batteries were supposed to go into the Chevy firetrap Volt and the Ford Focus. The reason they have been forced to cur back is simple. No one wants these pieces of junk.

Production of the taxpayer-subsidized Volt has been plagued by work stoppages, and the effect has trickled down to companies and plants that build parts for it — including the batteries.

“Considering the lack of demand for electric vehicles, despite billions of dollars from the Obama administration that were supposed to stimulate it, it’s not surprising what has happened with LG Chem. Just because a ton of money is poured into a product does not mean that people will buy it,” Paul Chesser, an associate fellow with the National Legal and Policy Center, told FoxNews.com

But, but, but this can’t be right. Everyone knows that “The One” Barack Obama knows just what people want. After all, he is the smartest man on Earth ever! So why haven’t they been any more successful?

“Electric car batteries do not perform much better than they did 100 years ago,” he said. “Research has not conquered the battery storage issue, and therefore the electric transportation ‘stimulus’ did not boost the ‘technology of the future,’ but instead a century-old technology as far as performance and capability goes.”

And there you have it. The batteries in use today, while more efficient in some ways, still don’t have the range of gasoline and take hours to recharge. There are also the issues of possible electrocution of first responders if the battery packs short out, not to mention fire. (They have over 100 years of experience in dealing with gasoline/diesel fuel fires)

He added that the LG Chem plant’s problems show that the unpopularity of electric cars despite heavy taxpayer subsidies has had more widespread negative effects than most realize.

Electric cars are fine if you live in a city with a moderate climate and don’t drive more than 30/40 miles a day. In cold weather, the range plummets.

“Billions of dollars were put into Volt research, and Ford received $5.9 billion in stimulus loans to retrofit plants to produce [electric vehicles],” Chesser said. “The battery companies like LG Chem that were supposed to service them have no customers to speak of. Their existence was solely based on access to taxpayer money.

Much like Solendra, Solar Trust, Abound Solar, A123 ((This was a company local to me and I did apply for a job there…once)), Evergreen Solar, and the list goes on ((Hat tip for the information from Sodahead)). Tens of billions of dollars have been wasted by this SCoaMF and that incompetent moron Steven Chu ((Steven Chu)).

“Had it been private investors rather than government bureaucrats making the decision, there either would have been a reality check about the industry, or only those who made individual decisions to invest would have lost their money, not taxpayers.”

King Putt, Steven Chu, Lisa Jackson ((Head of the Environmental Protection Agency)), and Ken Salazar ((Head of the Department of the Interior)) have done everything they can to utterly destroy the energy sector in this country. Chu and Salazar want people to ride to work on bicycles or public transportation. Gee, I wonder just how many people are going to ride a bike 50 miles each way in sub-zero weather with 2 feet of global warming on the ground? Public transportation? There isn’t any. These boobs don’t deal with anything in “Flyover Country ((Americanism: Flyover Country)), or reality. In the work they live in, everything is powered by magical unicorn farts.

If/When Mitt Romney wins in November and takes office in January 2013, he is going to have one hell of a house cleaning to do. The corruption of these agencies is so vast and deep, (Along with most of the others), that he will have to do what amounts to an outright purge. Rather then sending all these bureaucrats off to a gulag and execution, (Yes, a pleasant thought, but not realistic), they will have to be fired en mass. This will require help from the Congress. Without a doubt, if they do a mass layoff of these agencies, some power-mad statist bureaucrat will go find a friendly judicial tyrant to rule in their favor.

This is how deep the mess runs. No, I don’t believe it is an active conspiracy to destroy the United States. These idiots aren’t that smart. It is simply a bunch of over-educated elitists who think they know what’s good for everyone. These phoney baloney green energy businesses are just the latest symptom of the rot at the top.

It’s your choice. Four more years of this with the collapse of the country, or a new start with a slim chance to fix things. (We are very close to the edge right now. Romney and Ryan see this and have a plan)
