For most of us, there’s no decision to be made. If a bear comes at you, you turn it into a rug. Of course, if you happen to be in a state that puts the rights of animals ahead of people, then you have to allow yourself to be eaten.
This just happened in Massachusetts last week. A 76 year old man was filling his bird feeder when a bear came into his yard. Now the morons calling themselves officers of the court are planning to put him in jail forever. Here are the details from CBS Boston:
A 76-year-old Auburn man is facing charges after killing a bear in his backyard.
Richard Ahlstrand told WBZ-TV he was stocking his bird feeder Friday night when a bear about seven feet tall and 300-to-400 pounds started chasing him.
That’s when he turned his shotgun on the bear.
Now, for those of you who don’t know anything about bears, this is the time of year that nears wake up from hibernation. When they wake up, they are very hungry and are out looking for food. Mr. Ahlstrand chose not to be dinner.
“I didn’t have time to aim through the sights, but I aimed in the direction of the head on this thing and I pulled the trigger before it got to me. It just dropped,” he said.
Ahlstrand said he was carrying the shotgun Friday night because he thought he saw the bear in his yard Thursday.
“If that ever jumped on me, I wouldn’t even be here right know, I don’t think. I know it was going to seriously maul me,” he said.
Bears are not warm, cuddly, picnic basket stealing creatures ((Yogi Bear)). They are predators, and will attack humans if either provoked or hungry. So, what happens now to Mr. Ahlstrand?
Ahlstrand is now charged with illegally killing a bear, illegally baiting a bear, illegal possession of a firearm and failing to secure a weapon.
Excuse me? I do not see where Mr. Ahlstrand went out looking for the bear. He wasn’t out hunting for it and I’m sorry, bird seed is for BIRDS! As to illegal possession of a firearm? Is Mr. Ahlstrand a convicted felon who has had his rights reduced after a hearing in the courts? Not from what I can determine.
Massachusetts is a typical Progressive Liberal Democrat state. Unless you have permission of the State, it is expressly forbidden. Massachusetts also requires people to have permission from the State, (or Commonwealth in this case), before you will be allowed to exercise your constitutional right to keep and bear, (No pun intended), arms. Self defense from animal attack? What, and deprive a poor little teddy bear it’s richly deserved free meal of fresh Richard Ahlstrand steak? According to the police, yep.
Police don’t believe the bear was a threat to people.
Really? Well then how about a few reports from a quick google search?

- A Death in Yellowstone

And to this list you can add the Angry Brother and Angry Nephew. In their case, they were out deer hunting when they encountered a black bear. The Angry Brother and the Angry Nephew were separated by a few hundred feet. The Angry Brother saw the bear and carefully kept an eye on it and he was ready to shoot it if he had to. The Angry Nephew was sitting on a log when the bear came within 20 feet of him. Were they concerned about the bear’s well being? Hell no! They were going to blast it if it even looked at them cross-eyed.
Authorities believed the female bear had cubs. Ahlstrand says he feels bad about that, but he believes he being unfairly labeled.
“They got me set up now like I’m some kind of murderer. And then the environmental guy told me ‘You should have called me instead of shooting it.’ What was I going to do, say ‘Mister Bear would excuse me please while I go make a phone call?’”
As the story first said, the bear started chasing Mr. Ahlstrand. He didn’t go looking for it. He felt threatened and did what he had to to protect himself and his family. This isn’t like a criminal coming at Mr. Ahlstrand. A criminal would know not to go after someone with a gun. (Usually) This should have been instantly dismissed. Instead, we have some politically correct, left wing scumbag moron of a district attorney who thinks dangerous animals have rights.
I hope the NRA and the other pro-second amendment organizations are aware of this blatant attack on the freedom of a citizen. They should send the best lawyers they have to defend Mr. Ahlstrand and if needed, take this right to the supreme court. Massachusetts has a long history of suppressing people’s rights and utter putting animals ahead of people.

Progressive Liberal Democrats. In their minds, all we’re good for is bear food.

Sounds like a DA needs to be put out of our misery for grossly negligent stupidity. I hope that DA decides to migrate to Oklahoma where Molon labe is an attitude from the governor to the man (or woman) in the street. We can (and have) take care of business when it comes to stupidity.
