Good day all. This little story came out over the weekend. Governor Sarah Palin said she may have to consider leaving the Republican Party, (AKA, The Party of Stupid), if they continue on the path away from Constitutional Government.
If Sarah Palin handed in her notice, two things would happen. First, the GOP Establishment, better known as the RINO wing of the party, would dance a jig and say “Goodbye and good riddance.” The second thing that would probably happen is a number of other conservative members walking away from the GOP. Here are a few details from Breitbart:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said on Saturday that if Republicans abandon conservatives, conservatives may have to consider leaving the Republican Party.
Palin was responding on Fox News to a question from a viewer, Josh Painter, who asked if she and conservative talk radio host Mark Levin would be willing to form a “Freedom Party” if the GOP continues to let down conservatives.
Now I don’t follow Mark Levin very closely. Occasionally, I’ll see something on the Internet that he has written and quote it here. Governor Palin on the other hand, I follow fairly closely.
“I love the name of that party,” Palin said on Fox News on Saturday. “If the GOP continues to back away from the planks in our platform, from the principles that built this party of Lincoln and of Reagan, then, yeah, more and more of us are going to start saying, ‘You know, what’s wrong with being independent?'”
Personally, If Governor Palin left the Republican Party, I think we would see a dedicated third party come into being. Many of the Tea Party, Conservative and Constitutional groups could easily make the move to join together and create a new party with all that entails. They have sources of funding and there is a good chance that big money types may also bolt the GOP. Now what might trigger this move?
Palin said that if Republicans vote for things like amnesty, “there will be a lot of us who start saying, ‘GOP, if you abandon us, we have nowhere else to go except to become more independent and not enlisted in one or the other private majority parties that rule in our nation.'”
She said that both national parties are “private parties” and nobody forces Americans to be “enlisted in either party.”
Governor Palin would be most welcome in the ranks of the Independent Voter. (Unaffiliated) In fact, I am not a member of either the Party of Stupid or the Party of Totalitarianism. (That would be the Progressive Liberal Democrats)
Palin’s remarks represent the frustrations of conservatives who note Republicans lose when they nominate moderate candidates in national elections. Tea Partiers, in particular, emphasize that House Republicans have the majority because of their support in the previous two elections, and their concerns should be embraced instead of ignored.
And here is the problem with the Party of Stupid. Reagan was the last real constitutional and fiscal conservative to run and win the presidency for the Republican party. The Establishment RINO wing hated him with a passion. When their candidate, George Herbert Walker Bush, (AKA Bush 1), became president, he promptly began undoing all the good things Reagan had done. Who can forget this campaign statement from Bush:
“Read my lips, NO NEW TAXES!”
And what did that moron do? Signed one of the biggest tax increases in U.S. History to that time. He went from a high of 80% approval after the Gulf War, (Which he screwed up), to something like 30% in a matter of months. Then we had Bob Dole who was always touting Bob Dole in the third person. He was blown out by Clinton in the 1996 election, and this was after Clinton tried to ram through the original “Obamacare” and the banning of semi-auto rifles and standard capacity magazines.
Then we had Bush the Younger and his “Compassionate Conservatism. This translated into “Massive spending, massive regulation and bigger government. The only reason he managed two terms was 9/11. If the 9/11 attack had not occurred, Bush the Younger would have been a one term president and we would have had President Kerry.
Personally, I think the GOP will continue to be stupid and I think that it will collapse in the next few years, just the way the WHIG ((Whig Party (United States))) party did in the 1850’s. I’m one of those that bailed on the GOP long ago. The GOP is dead to me and I only voted for that idiot McCain because Sarah Palin was on the ticket. Time to kill the GOP Sarah and start a new party with principled members who put the nation first.
