Semper Paratus! Here comes the U.S. Coast Guard!

Greetings all. Since the frozen acolytes of the Goracle have been airlifted to safety, there remains the problem of the original ship and the two ice breakers that are stuck in the nonexistent sea ice in Antarctica.

A request for assistance was sent to the United States and the United States Coast Guard ship Polar Star, which is currently in Sydney, Australia is cutting short it’s visit and making ready to head to the area. As you would expect from the USCG, they will brave ice, snow, massive seas and flocks of starving Flaming Carnivorous Penguins of DOOM to help out fellow mariners now in distress thanks to that pack of Barking Moonbats who think that ice is a thing of the past. Here are some of the details from the United State Coast Guard:

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star is responding to a Jan. 3rd request from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to assist the Russian-Flagged Akademik Shokalskiy and Chinese-Flagged Xue Long that are reportedly ice-bound in the Antarctic. The Russian and Chinese Governments have also requested assistance from the United States.

Always glad to be of service, especially in this case. The crew of the Akademik Shokalskiy are in this mess because of those idiot global warming “scientists, and the Chinese ship Xue Long is trapped because China tried to do the right thing and save those useless fools. By useless fools, I do NOT mean the captain and crew of the Akademik Shokalskiy. They tried to warn those morons, but they wouldn’t listen. Frankly, the captain should have said “Screw Them” and sailed away. But, they too had to do the right thing and they did. To continue:

Coast Guard Pacific Area Command Center received the request Thursday evening from AMSA after they evaluated the situation and determined there is sufficient concern that the vessels may not be able to free themselves from the ice. AMSA has been coordinating rescue operations since the Akademik Shokalskiy became beset with ice on Dec. 24. The Polar Star will cut short its planned stop in Sydney to support the AMSA’s request for assistance.

“The U.S. Coast Guard stands ready to respond to Australia’s request,” said Vice Adm. Paul F. Zukunft, Coast Guard Pacific Area Commander. “Our highest priority is safety of life at sea, which is why we are assisting in breaking a navigational path for both of these vessels. We are pleased to learn the passengers of the Akademik Shokalskiy have been transported safely off the vessel. We are always ready and duty bound to render assistance in one of the most remote and harsh environments on the face of the globe.”

The unofficial motto of the Coast Guard is “You have to go out. You don’t have to come back.” What that means is the Coast Guard will go out and try to save ships in distress even if it puts themselves at risk.

The Polar Star is the U.S. Coast Guard’s only active heavy polar ice breaker. The ship is 399 feet in length, its maximum speed is 18 knots, it is able to continuously break six feet of ice at three knots, and able to break 21 feet of ice backing and ramming. The Polar Star is specifically designed for open-water icebreaking with a reinforced hull and special icebreaking bow.

I hope it will get the job done. One thing I would strongly recommend to the Chinese, Australian and United States governments is billing those blithering, utterly moronic moonbats for all the costs associated with trying to rescue them. If any ships are lost, then the insurance companies and governments should go after both the Moonbats and anyone who was backing their little field trip masquerading as an actual scientific research voyage. I may have my issues with the Chinese and Russian Governments, but in this case, I stand with them and the crews of those ships that put themselves at risk to save those complete wastes of oxygen.
