EPA to outlaw fire

Good day all. I hope you are keeping nice warm. You might have a nice fire going in a wood stove. Enjoy it while you can. The Nazi scum at the EPA are going to outlaw fire next.

Ok, this might be a slight exaggeration, but not much. The EPA wants to put restrictions on wood stoves. Here are the details from Fox News:

The federal Environmental Protection Agency has proposed new standards for wood stoves that would reduce the maximum amount of fine particulate emissions allowed for new stoves sold in 2015 and 2019. Maximum emissions would be reduced by one-third next year and by 80 percent in five years, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported.

Now I have no idea how the Hell they are going to cut down on smoke. This is what they are talking about, of course. They want to filter the smoke that goes up a chimney. The only way I can think of, other then flat out forbidding the sale of wood stoves is to install some sort of filtering system in the chimneys. Now that would mean that some sort or periodic maintenance would be required to clean out the filters.

Most people won’t even think of doing that. It’s enough of a pain in the ass to clean the ashes out of the stove as it is. Pulling and either replacing or cleaning a filter? Not going to happen. I wouldn’t be surprised if people just pulled the filtering system out completely and ignored the EPA dictates. So why are these boneheads doing this?

Fine particulate pollution is made up of solid particles and liquid droplets that measure 2.5 micrometers in diameter or less. The EPA currently certifies non-catalytic wood stoves ((Catalytic and non-catalytic stoves)) if they produce less than 7.5 grams of fine particulate per hour. Fine particulate absorbed by breathing has been linked to heart attacks, decreased lung function and premature death in people with heart or lung disease.

I had to look up what a Catalytic stove was. Sounds to me like its something like the catalytic converter on a car, but instead of converting fumes, it tries to reignite and burn them. Another term for this is “Chimney Fire” and is something most people prefer to avoid. Of course, the EPA is saying this will save money in the long run.

The EPA in its announcement said dollars spent for compliance would be made up in medical cost savings.

“When these standards are fully implemented, EPA estimates that for every dollar spent to comply with these standards, the American public will see between $118 and $267 in health benefits,” it said. “Consumers will also see a monetary benefit from efficiency improvements in the new wood stoves, which use less wood to heat homes. The total health and economic benefits of the proposed standards are estimated to be at $1.8 (billion) to $2.4 billion annually.”

Frankly, I don’t believe this for one instant. I think they are flat out lying through their teeth. If you have been outside when people are burning wood, you can smell it in the air. It’s very rare for the smoke to be so thick that it directly affects you. About the only way for this to happen would be some sort of weather inversion holding the smoke close to the ground.

Over the last 5 years, the EPA has been out of control and actively damaging the economy and national security of the United States. The people who work for the EPA are militant anti-human followers of the Goracle and his Church of Global Warming. This is just another one of their mandates that will, in all probability, do far more harm then good. Many people use wood as either a secondary, or in some cases a primary means to heat their homes. They burn wood because it’s cheaper then other means to heat their homes. The EPA’s mandate might just price some people right into hypothermia and death.

Not that these Luddites care. I wonder what they will ban next? Forest fires? Those do pour out huge amounts of smoke and soot that does hurt people. How about outlawing building fires? Hey, I know! Let’s have the EPA ban erupting volcanoes! The ash from those will kill you if you get a little in your lungs. They can do that the same way Obama mandated the seas to stop rising.
