Good day. I assume that you have cleaned off your monitor and replaced your keyboard after reading the title. Yes, I was being sarcastic. As we all know, the EPA is an out of control agency that is actively working to destroy the economic well being and freedom of Americans and lawful resident aliens.
In a not unexpected development, it’s coming out just how cozy the relationship is between the EPA and the various anti-human radical environmentalist group. Here are the details from Fox News:
Newly disclosed emails suggest senior policy officials at the Environmental Protection Agency and environmental groups are working closely to kill the Keystone XL pipeline, critics say.
“These damning emails make it clear that the Obama administration has been actively trying to stop this important project for years,” Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., who has long advocated for the Canada-to-Texas pipeline’s construction, said in a statement to Fox News.
And this surprises you why senator?
The emails were obtained under a Freedom of Information Act request by the Energy and Environment Legal Institute. In one communication, Lena Moffit of the Sierra Club wrote to three senior policy staffers at the EPA, including Michael Goo, who was then the associate administrator for policy.
And what did these emails say?
“Thanks so much for taking the time to meet with us on Keystone XL yesterday,” she wrote. “Let me know if I can be helpful in any way — particularly in further identifying those opportunities for EPA to engage that don’t involve ‘throwing your body across the tracks,’ as Michael put it.”
This doesn’t sound very good. It does sound a bit like collusion and conspiracy with a dash of CYA to me.
EELI senior legal fellow Chris Horner told Fox News that as a government agency, EPA couldn’t be seen as overtly trying to kill Keystone, but was reaching out to environmental groups for other ideas on how to do it. “On its face,” Horner told Fox News, “it smacks of classic secret dealing and an uncomfortably close working relationship and one that is known to these parties, but quite plainly not advertised to the public.”
Barrasso was less diplomatic. “Despite the fact that Keystone XL has bipartisan support in Congress and from governors, environmental extremists inside and out of the administration are working behind closed doors to kill it,” he said.
But that can’t be! This is the most transparent administration in the history of the Universe! Obama promised! Ok, now for a few reality checks regarding the EPA and the Most Transparent Administration EVER!
Many EPA staffers — including Goo — came from the environmental movement. Goo, who is now at the Department of Energy’s policy shop, was with the Natural Resources Defense Council. Horner said many EPA staffers share a policy agenda with environmental groups, a common cause illuminated in the emails his group obtained.
“This series of correspondence plainly indicates that you’ve got an agency that’s made up its mind — working with allies with whom it is ideologically and substantively aligned on this — trying to find ways to advance their argument without being too obvious about it,” Horner told Fox News.
The EPA was taken over by the Anti-Human and Anti-Free enterprise, (That would be Marxists) extremists even before Obama. The only thing that slowed them down was the political appointees running the agency. These people do not like getting hauled up in front of Congress and getting blindsided thanks to some radical environmentalist bureaucrat who is pushing his or her agenda. With the election of Il Douche and his hatred of America, the radicals were given free reign to rampage through the country.
Emails previously obtained by Horner’s group reveal similar agenda-sharing regarding coal. There are dozens of exchanges on the just-released regulations regarding coal-fired power plants. In one email, John Coequyt, head of Sierra’s “beyond coal” campaign, wrote to Goo and another EPA staffer in an apparent attempt to pressure EPA into adopting regulations so strict that coal plants that already received construction permits could not be built.
“Attached is a list of plants that the companies shelved because of uncertainty around GHG regulations. If a standard is set that these plants could meet, there is a not small chance that they (sic) company could decide to revive the proposal,” Coequyt wrote.
I believe this is referred to as a “Smoking gun.” over the years we have seen the EPA literally use police state tactics. Their most recent outrage was the EPA, in complete violation of Congress, decided to just hand a town in Wyoming to an Indian tribe. There have been many instances of the EPA acting in violation of the law and the Constitution. One of their favorite tricks is to use private email accounts to avoid leaving a trail on government mail servers as well as holding meetings off site so there is no log of who was there or that it even occurred.
There is also evidence, said Horner, that EPA officials sought to keep their deliberations with environmental groups out of the public record by using private email accounts and back-channel communications. In one such exchange, James Martin, who was the EPA’s Region 8 administrator, exchanged ideas with the Sierra Club’s chief legal counsel Vickie Patton on where to hold public hearings on new coal regulations. Martin used a “.me” account instead of his official EPA server.
This “policy” of doing everything possible to avoid accountability began under the administration of Carol Browner ((Carol Martha Browner)) during the Clinton Administration. She was noted for destroying EPA computer files in violation of a judicial order to preserve them ((Michelle Malkin: Crooked Carol Browner: Obama’s ethically-challenged energy czar)). It’s only gotten worse with outright abuse of companies and individuals by EPA goons ((Caution! EPA Goon squad at work!)) ((Need another reason to close the EPA?)).
In a normal world, the head of the EPA would be hauled up in front of a congressional committee and asked what was going to be done to correct these illegal acts. In a normal world we would have a Senate that was run by men and women with ethics ((Harry Reid on the hot seat: Ethics probe demanded by watchdog group)) and a House run by courageous men and women who put country ahead of getting reelected. Unfortunately, what we have is a corrupt Senate and a pack of cowards in the House.
I am of the opinion that the only way to stop the EPA, which should have been shut down years ago, will require action by the states. I don’t mean lawsuits, since the EPA doesn’t pay any attention to decisions that go against them, no it’s going to take the governors with the agreement of their legislatures to order the EPA out of their states. In other words, outright refusal to follow their mandates with a willingness to use state resources to protect those individuals and companies being victimized by the EPA.
This may involve county sheriff’s and state police with a possibility of deploying the national guard to protect company and individual property as well as officers of the companies and the people under threat by the EPA. This will cause a constitutional crises and this is just what it may take before the morons in Washington finally get around to either cleaning house at the EPA our just shutting it down and terminating all the employees. Considering the anger people have with the Federal Government and it’s agencies, this might just happen in the next few years. We shall see.
