First a bit of housekeeping. Today, February 11th, 2014 is the Day We Fight Back against NSA spying on American citizens. You will see a pop up banner appear on this site for the next day or so. You can simply “X” it out and it will drop out of the way.
Now on to the subject at hand, the Obama Regime hiring yet another incompetent contractor to fix the problems caused by the last incompetent contractor. As you know by now, the Obama404Care website has been an unmitigated disaster and continues to be a disaster. (Never mind all the other disastrous problems with Obamacare) The company that was hired to build the Obama404Care website, CGI Federal, was pretty much fired a month ago. It was announced that another company, Accenture, would be taking over the work on the healthcare.gov website.
You would think that Der Fubar would make sure that there wouldn’t be a repeat of the CGI Federal debacle, but this IS the Obama Administration. Competence doesn’t even come up on the radar for them. Now it’s come out that the new company, Accenture, is also under criticism for botching their work. Here are the details from Fox News:
Accenture, the contractor hired to fix ongoing problems with the federal health exchange website, has been heavily criticized by some of its largest clients, including federal agencies, according to a published report.
The Washington Post reports that the U.S. Postal Service Inspector General’s Office recommended this past June that the agency consider terminating more than $200 million in contracts with Accenture. The recommendation cited an “absence of business ethics” by the firm, including a 2011 settlement with the Justice Department to resolve allegations of “kickbacks” and “bid-rigging” in federal contracts. Accenture, which paid $63 million to resolve the claims, denied the allegations.
Oh isn’t this so typical of the SCoaMF and his band of Merry Marxists. Of course, any company that has an ethics problem would fit right in with Il Douche’s way of governing ruling. Now according to the Washington Post:
Administration officials say that Accenture is uniquely qualified for the estimated $91 million, one-year contract because of its breadth of resources and experience in building major online systems for federal agencies such as the Census Bureau and the Education Department. The officials also cited the firm’s work on the California health-insurance marketplace, which has enrolled large numbers of residents in health plans despite suffering technical glitches.
From what I’ve heard, the California system is just as badly written as the Federal system. I’ve been reading and also noting here that people are finding out that they aren’t going to get what they signed up for, and in many cases, are finding out that they don’t have any insurance after all. About par for the course with the Exchanges and Obama404Care.
“Accenture was selected to help us maintain the site’s high performance and make important enhancements as we prepare for next year’s open-enrollment period,’’ said Tasha Bradley, a spokeswoman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
I wonder if Tasha has been inhaling deeply at the “Holy Bong of the Church of Medical Marijuana” or something.
The firm’s federal subsidiary, Accenture Federal Services, was chosen by CMS over three other companies for HealthCare.gov in what one CMS document described as an “abbreviated” process. A CMS official said that the agency did a thorough analysis of Accenture’s record.
Heh, this sounds familiar. I wonder how large a donation they made to the “Make Obama president for life” campaign they made? So who is Accenture anyway?
Accenture is descended from the onetime venerable accounting firm Arthur Andersen. In 1989, a group of Andersen partners resigned to form Andersen Consulting, which was legally separate but under the same umbrella organization.
I remember Aurthur Andersen. Here’s why.
In 2001, Andersen Consulting changed its name to Accenture. Arthur Andersen went out of business the following year because of its role in the Enron accounting scandal; Accenture had no role in that scandal.
Yep! Good old Enron ((Enron Scandal)). For those of you who might not know or have forgotten, Enron Corporation was the poster child for corporate corruption. Arthur Andersen LLP ((Arthur Andersen LLP)) was the company that was hired to audit their books. It turned out they were helping Enron cook the books instead. Getting back to their bastard stepchild:
Between 2004 and 2007, the Pentagon and four states canceled Accenture contracts to develop online voting or voter-registration systems, citing problems such as software flaws and inadequate computer security. At the time, Accenture defended its work on the projects, and in some instances blamed state officials or workers for the difficulties.
I would read the full article on the Washington Post. They have a nice list of debacles caused by this company. The best part was this:
A 2007 report by the Interior Department’s inspector general blasted the firm’s work on a computer system for the Minerals Management Service, which regulated the oil industry. One accountant told auditors that the system took 15 times as long as the one it replaced.
The inspector general at the time, Earl Devaney, recalled in an interview that he “could not understand why Accenture had not been thrown out the door. Millions of dollars, and they still hadn’t gotten this up and running after all that time.’’
This one, I will blame on the Bush administration, or in this case, the person running the Department of the Interior. Since it was the Bush administration, it goes without saying King Putt’s Court Jesters would ignore any potential problems. After all, the mantra of the Obama Administration has always been, “It’s Bush’s fault.” No doubt when Accenture screws this up, they will blame Bush for it.
Of course, all the problems with the website are just the tip of the iceberg. The real problem is just how bad the so-called “Insurance Plans” actually are. You can throw all the resources and money at healthcare.gov Obama404Care you want. The problem is the entire system. No one wanted it, people knew it wouldn’t work and it is in the process of failing miserably. Even now, Democrats are running in terror of what ObamaCare is going to do to them in the November election. In fact, King Putt issued yet another illegal “Royal Decree” postponing the employer mandate until 2016. Ostensibly this is to give employers more time to prepare. In reality it is to provide some cover for the Democrats in November.
Nothing Obama and the Democrats can do will save this monstrosity. Irregardless of the Supreme Court, this fiasco is unconstitutional, no matter what that slime John Roberts says, it is hated by almost two thirds of the American population and it is already starting to kill children. The Republicans have offered several plans that probably will work. They certainly can’t be any worse than this!
