About those state Obamacare exchanges

I’ve talked about what a disaster the Obamacare roll out was last October. Unfinished and nonfunctional just to start with and I won’t bother with the complete lack of security. There are also major issues with most of the state run exchanges as well.

Oregon’s has been a complete and hysterically embarrassing failure. Oregon jumped in with both feet announcing they couldn’t wait to get there version Obamacare running. They’re still waiting and it looks like there might be a federal investigation into that disaster. Then there was Maryland.

Maryland, another of the hard left blue states, under Martin O’Malley, a man who impersonates a governor, also set up their own exchange system. They too were making statements about just how wonderful it would be with dancing unicorns and fairy dust making everybody happy. And, just like the Federal Obamacare website, it crashed and burned spectacularly.

“No Problem!” cried O’Malley. “We can fix it. These are just a few minor glitches. Soon the unicorns will be farting all over the place and all will be well in our socialist workers paradise.” Umm, yeah, no. Like Oregon and many other states, they couldn’t get it working correctly. Oh people could log into it, which is more than you can say for the Oregon disaster, but it was so glitchy as to be unusable. Now it looks like they are simply going to write it off. Here are the details from Fox News:

With just days to go before open enrollment ends on March 31, Maryland officials are reportedly planning to abandon its glitch-ridden ObamaCare website and replace the health exchange with technology from Connecticut’s marketplace. The Washington Post reported late Friday that the board of the Maryland exchange will vote on changing the system that has cost at least $125.5 million at a meeting on Tuesday, the day after the end of the first enrollment period under ObamaCare.

That flushing sound you just heard? That’s all your tax dollars going down the crapper.

Maryland residents will still be able to use the exchange as it is being replaced with technology from the Connecticut exchange, Access Health CT, officials told The Post. The state is expected to tap consulting firm Deloitte for the overhaul.

This isn’t an overhaul. It’s a scrap and replace. I don’t know anything about Connecticut’s computer system, which probably means it’s working somewhat.

Maryland’s online health exchange has been bedeviled by computer problems that have made it difficult for people to enroll in private health care plans since its debut Oct. 1. Although improvements have been made, computer problems remain. O’Malley told reporters on Friday to expect an announcement on the future of the exchange next week, The Post reported.

We still have stuck applications. We still wrestle with it every day,” O’Malley said. “The clock was ticking, and we have been changing the flat tires on this rolling car for the last five, going on six months now. And it has gotten better with every new fix applied to it, [but it is] still not working as it was supposed to work.”

Gee, I wonder why? Could it be that this was yet another Progressive Liberal Democrat boondoggle with hundreds of millions going to a crony who wasn’t competent instead of hiring a couple of sophomores from the local tech collage? Naah, it can’t possible be that!

Last month, Maryland’s health exchange board voted to fire the state’s prime information technology contractor, Noridian Healthcare Solutions. Rep. Andy Harris, Maryland’s only Republican congressman, recently announced that the inspector general of the Department of Health and Human Services had agreed to review the state health exchange after requesting an investigation in February.

Earlier this month, the investigative arm of Congress agreed to look into problems with state health exchange websites. The Government Accountability Office accepted an initial request from a group of House Republicans seeking an audit on how $304 million in federal grants were spent on the Cover Oregon website, which has yet to enroll a single person online without special assistance.

Special assistance usually was filling out a huge form and mailing it in with no guarantee it would actually get people health insurance. This whole mess is wholly owned by the Democrat Party. They refused to listen to anyone who understood what would happen, and utterly ignored the majority of the voters who said “NO! We don’t want this!” They are still refusing to listen.

We have the state exchanges failing completely, the federal exchange is a disaster, Obama has been illegally rewriting the law HE SIGNED because he knows this will mean a blowout in November. Even if the Progressive Liberal Democrats manage, in some way, to keep Obamacare going into 2015, it won’t work. The insurance companies are already warning that rates will skyrocket because of this debacle.

rationing

People are now finding out that the so called insurance is horrible. There are massive price hikes, the doctors and hospitals they use to be able to go to aren’t covered and now they’re finding out that drugs they need won’t be paid for. With the hikes in the cost of premiums that will probably happen in the next 2-3 years, people will have a choice of getting insurance, or eating. Many will refuse to buy the insurance.

Then comes the IRS fine. Thanks to that cowardly scumsucking weasel John Roberts, if you don’t buy insurance, you can get hit with a massive “Tax.” This isn’t a tax of course, it’s a fine levied without due process. Oh, after you have had thousands of dollars siphoned from your accounts, you still have to buy the insurance. This is called painting people into a corner. This is generally not considered a good idea. When people see no way out, they tend towards a violent reaction. This is what happens when someone has nothing left to lose. There’s only so much prison space for people convicted of beating an IRS agent into a coma. The government will run out of IRS personnel and prison space long before they run out of angry citizens.

We’ve wasted probably billions of dollars on this debacle. It’s time to stop pussyfooting around and start confronting the politicians who have jammed this down America’s throats. They need to regain a healthy fear of the electorate, then they might start doing their jobs as required by the Constitution. We’re already seeing a number of Progressive Liberal Democrats pull the eject lever and bail out of congress. They are seeing the writing on the wall and don’t want to be around when the house of cards comes tumbling down. This November, retire a lot more of them.
