Good day all, This story broke last Friday. The District Attorney’s office in Travis County, Texas announced a two count indictment of Governor Rick Perry. The charges? Basically, doing his job.
This whole mess started when the Travis County DA, Rosemary Lehmberg, was arrested for drunk driving and became very belligerent, to the point she had to be restrained. She was filmed by the jail camera’s pulling the old “Do YOU know who I am?” routine. In the end, she was convicted and sentenced to 45 days in jail. (She served 21 days)

The Travis County District Attorney’s office also handles the Texas Public Integrity Unit ((The Texas Public Integrity Unit)). Because of Lehmberg’s arrest and conviction, Governor Perry demanded that she resign her office. Being a shameless drunken Democrat, she refused. Perry apparently said if she didn’t resign, he would veto funding for the office and shut the whole thing down. This is when they decided to “Get” Perry. Friday, a Special Prosecutor, Michael McCrum, proved that a Grand Jury will indict a bologna sandwich.

The actual charges are, according to lawyers on both sides of the political aisle, laughable in the extreme. One of the charges, according to the Wall Street Journal is:
It charges Mr. Perry with abusing his office by “threatening to veto legislation that had been approved and authorized by the Legislature of the State of Texas to provide funding for the continued operation of the Public Integrity Unit of the Travis County District Attorney’s office unless Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg resigned from her official position as elected District Attorney.”
Since Travis Country District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg is a convicted Drunk Driver, in other words, a criminal, she is not a suitable person to run that office, let alone the one dealing with the integrity of public officials. There there is the actual veto threat. He guess what you moron, governors in Texas have that ability. They can line out an item and not fund it. If the legislature isn’t happy with that veto, then they can override it. This is called the “Legislative Process.” You must have skipped that day when they taught it in school. The second charge claims that
“Mr. Perry “knowingly misused government property,” referring to the $7.5 million in appropriated funds. The relevant Texas statute on misuse of public property requires “custody” of the property. Mr. Perry never had control over the $7.5 million before or after his veto. It was simply unspent public money.”
This is part and parcel for the Democrats in Texas, especially in Travis County, the most left wing area in the state. In the past they went after Kay Bailey Hutchinson on a bogus charge, designed to destroy her political career and recently they did ruin Tom Delay’s career. This one is so bad and so obviously a partisan abuse of the legal system, that the noted Right Wing conservative Tea party supporter, David Axelrod, thinks this is a bogus indictment. (For those of you who don’t know, Axelrod was a senior adviser to Barack Obama and is ab out as left wing as you can get without having the Hammer and Sickle tattooed on your ass)

Already a judge overseeing this case has said that there will be no arrest warrant issued for Governor Perry. I expect that once this case gets in front of a judge, it will be laughed out of court. Then the state Legislature is going to have to take action to deal with these moonbats in the Travis County’s District Attorney’s office. The corruption in there is so deep that I don’t know how it can be cleaned out. Still, that’s something for the Texans to deal with.
