Andrew Klavan on Microaggression

Good day all. I’ve started following Mr. Klavan’s Youtube channel. Recently he brought up the topic of “Microaggression” on collage campuses.

Now I first heard this term about 6 months ago and my first thought was “What the hell is this garbage?” Now I will be the first to admit that I am unenlightened in all things Progressive, (And prefer it that way), so I had no real understanding of the horrors of those who suffere from Microaggression. Now, to bring you all up to speed, this is what Wikipedia says about Microagression:

Psychologist and Columbia University professor Derald Wing Sue defined microaggressions as “brief, everyday exchanges that send denigrating messages to certain individuals because of their group membership.” Sue describes microaggressions at generally happening below the level of awareness of well-intentioned members of the dominant culture. Microaggressions are considered to be different from overt, deliberate acts of bigotry, such as the use of racist epithets, because the people perpetrating microaggressions often intend no offense and are unaware they are causing harm.

Now the Wikipedia page is marked as having a number of issues, so I thought I would include this video by Mr. Klavan. Here he takes several letters from the web site The Microaggressions Project and asks several people in different countries to comment on them. Hmm, it seems to me that people who complain about being the victims of micro aggressive behavior are in fact a pack of whiny little babies who think the world revolves around them. I think the best way to deal with someone like this who complains about the way other people offend them is to say:

“You are offended? So what? There is no right not to be offended in the Constitution. You don’t like what I say, do or look? It offends you? Well Suck it up, Buttercup! Grow up, get a job and mind your own business!”
